Columbus Dispatch/OFCC PAC Endorse 2 Franklin County Candidates for House

Republican Rep. Larry L. Flowers is seeking re-election to represent Ohio House District 19. Both OFCC PAC and the Columbus Dispatch endorse him.

According to the newspaper, "Flowers is the better choice for the job."

Rep. Larry Wolpert, a Republican from Hilliard, is running unopposed for re-election, this time in the redrawn 23rd District.

The Dispatch points out that "his service to his former district is best characterized as earnest and honest. The Dispatch endorses him for another term."

OFCC PAC has been impressed with both candidates' voting records on CCW/self-defense-related issues. Their familiarity and experience with HB274, for which they voted yes, ensures continued strong support for Ohio CCW initiatives in the House.

Taft pulls Hagan's strings on CCW, Hagan flip-flops (again)

One day after Governor Taft accused his opponent of flip-flopping on the Conceal Carry Reform issue (a moment rich with irony) in their televised debate, Hagan willingly responded by flipping his flop, or flopping his flip, yet again.

In discussing what he thought he could have done better in the debate, Hagan said he wishes he had been more articulate in explaining his position on pending legislation that would permit Ohioans to carry concealed weapons.

"I should have been clear in saying I don't think everyone in Ohio should have access to a gun,'' Hagan said, reiterating that he opposes the pending legislation.

But he said there are circumstances in which some citizens -- those with dangerous jobs or who have reason to fear for their lives -- should have the right to carry a concealed gun under Ohio's so-called affirmative defense law. A judge must give permission to carry a concealed weapon under that law.

Cleveland Plain Dealer/ OFCC PAC endorse Jim Trakas (R) for House 17

Republican Jim Trakas is seeking re-election to represent Ohio House District 17. Both OFCC PAC and the Cleveland Plain Dealer endorse him.

In the newspapers words, "Jim Trakas has arguably been Northeast Ohio's most powerful and effective legislator for the past four years."

A recent falling out with House Speaker Larry Householder, the Plain Dealer says, "cannot diminish the skillful representation Trakas has provided for his district - and the state - over the last four years. Trakas has developed into a highly informed member on most important matters facing the legislature."

"Fortunately for voters in District 17, they will choose between two qualified candidates on Nov. 5. But Trakas is the better of the two."

OFCC PAC has been impressed with Jim Trakas' voting record on CCW/self-defense-related issues. His familiarity and experience with HB274, for which he voted yes, ensures continued strong support for Ohio CCW initiatives in the House.

District 17 includes Bentleyville, Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Chagrin Falls, Chagrin Falls Township, Glenwillow, Hunting Valley, Independence, Lyndhurst, Moreland Hills, Oakwood, Pepper Pike, Seven Hills, Solon, Valley View, Walton Hills and part of Mayfield Heights.
