THREE ''no-guns'' banks, and a customer in another, robbed around Ohio this week

It's been yet another dangerous week for customers of "no-guns" banks in Ohio.

Just days after a Columbus police officer was killed in a Fifth Third bank in that city, two more Fifth Third branches were robbed. And as the first report reveals, the long list of robberies in these unsafe businesses is likely much longer, but are not always reported in the newspapers.

    · Cleveland Fifth Third Robbery
On Monday, January 10, an OFCC supporter notified us that the Fifth Third Bank on Cedar Road in Cleveland Heights was robbed at about 5pm by two males. The supporter remarked that "it will not appear in the news, as the bank across the street was robbed recently in 2004 and did not appear."

    · Cincinnati Fifth Third Robbery
A dangerous car chase started after police received a report of bank robbery at the Fifth Third bank branch inside the Kroger store at 4100 Hunt Road at 10:58 a.m. The robber demanded money and escaped with an undetermined amount of cash. "He indicated he had a gun and would use it," Blue Ash Police Lt. Dennis Boone told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

When reading this next story, keep in mind that the OFCC supporter who submitted it reports that Consumer National Bank posts "no-guns" signs. Is there any wonder why the criminal felt he could be so casual?

    · Hanoverton "no-guns" bank robbery
The Lorain Morning Journal reported this week that a Consumers National Bank was robbed Monday afternoon by a white male with a handgun. The suspect, who wasn't wearing a mask, entered the bank located on U.S. Route 30 at 3:40 p.m. and approached a female teller. "He just walked in very casually, leaned over and said 'Give me your money,' " Detective Jerry Herbert of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office told the newspaper. (emphasis added) The dumbfounded clerk stood there stunned, which prompted the robber to say, "I'm not kidding," Herbert said. The Morning Journal reports the robber had a dark-blue handgun he was carrying in a hand, which he showed to the clerk to get her moving. The clerk handed her money over to the suspect, who walked out the door and turned east.

As you read about this bank customer's misfortune, kbear in mind that First National Bank renders all customers defenseless by posting "no-guns" signs.

    · "No-guns" bank customer robbed
The Sandusky Register reported this week that the customer (of a "no-guns" bank) was robbed while making bank deposit. Perkins Township Police told the newspaper a customer making a deposit at a Perkins Township bank was the victim of
an armed robbery Sunday night. The Register story indicated a report of a robbery in progress at First National Bank, 4416 Milan Road, was called into Perkins police on Sunday. Chief Tim McClung told the newspaper a robber allegedly "flashed a weapon" at a local resident while they were at the bank but would not provide further details, citing an ongoing investigation into the incident.

To date, OFCC is not aware of a single Ohio newspaper that has bothered to mention the "no-guns" signs posted on the doors of these dangerous and discriminatory banks when covering a robbery.

Contrast these defenseless victimizations to this foiled robbery at a pharmacy in Coshocton:

VICTIM ZONE: Police seek pair who robbed elderly man

The Akron Beacon Journal is reporting that Akron police are searching for two men who abducted an elderly man at gunpoint from the parking lot of a "no-guns" business, robbed him and forced him to drive them to Canton on Wednesday.

According to the story, the men approached the man from behind around 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Acme grocery at 2905 Whipple Ave.

The newspaper says they stopped at a gas station, and one of the suspects started driving before striking a car in the 1200 block of 17th Street Northeast near Rowland Avenue. The suspects then fled on foot, according to Jackson police.

Police told the Beacon Journal the victim suffered a minor cut to his face after being struck with the gun.

Last spring, ACME Fresh Market (& Pharmacy) in NE Ohio began telling concerned customers that they "believe that carrying weapons into our stores - even for individual licensed by the State - would create an unsafe environment."

No word whether they meant unsafe for kidnappers, or for the elderly customer.

Kent State Univ. ''Treats Second Amendment Club Like Second-Class Citizens''

(CNSNews.com) - Administrators at Kent State University in Ohio have refused to recognize a Second Amendment club as an official student group, a conservative organization claimed Friday.

Students organized the group with the assistance of the Leadership Institute's Campus Leadership Program, which helps start and maintain conservative groups at colleges and universities.

Officials at Kent State's Office of Campus Life refused to consider the Second Amendment Club's application for recognition, said student Luke Adams, who founded the club this past fall.

"We asked Kent State to recognize our Second Amendment group, and they treated us like second-class citizens," Adams said.

The club was to educate students about responsible and safe gun use through education and events, such as trips to shooting ranges.

Kent State recognizes several liberal groups, including the Kent State Anti-War Coalition, Students Eliminating Environmental Destruction and the Coalition for a Humane and New Global Economy.

Op-Ed: Why Liberals Love Gun Control

By Justin Darr

If there is one thing liberals love more than banning Christianity from public schools it is creating ineffective gun control laws. Despite centuries of evidence that gun control laws do not lower crime, stop violence, or make society safer in any way, liberals keep plugging away at our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

I am not going to weary you with a regurgitation of all the well known statistics showing how strict gun control laws are followed by sharp spikes in violent crime rates or with arguments asking the left to explain its intellectual consistency behind their view that the only remedy to a failed gun control law is the creation of another gun control law just like it. The real question in the gun control debate is not the statistics or the nuances of the law but why in the first place liberals are so preoccupied with making it harder for law abiding citizens to carry a gun.

Suspect sought in roadside rape attempt

The Dayton Daily News is reporting that Warren County authorities are asking the public for help in finding a man who attempted to rape an 18-year-old woman whose car broke down on Ohio 48, just south of Lebanon.

The newspaper reports the county resident dialed 911 at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday to report fighting off a man who pulled next to her car in a white Dodge pickup.

Investigators told the DDN the woman stated the man hit her and attempted to cut off her clothing after she turned down his offer for help. She resisted and he fled south on Ohio 48, allowing her to call for help. She was treated at an area hospital.

Education Guide Lesson #8: Who Wins, Who Loses, When Guns Are Banned?

Yet another eye-opening study course has been added to the OFCC PAC Education Guide.

T. Dave Gowan, Ph.D., asks and answers the following questions:

  • Who gains by [gun] ban policies, and who loses?
  • Are these policies effective in any way?
  • Do these business policies prevent any firearms-related crime?
  • Or do they affect only law-abiding customers?

This piece serves as an excellent examination of the rhetoric Ohio's gun ban extremists are still spouting to all who will listen, and the weak answers some Ohio businesses are giving to those who question their discriminatory practices. His well-researched responses shine a healthy dose of truth into a very dark hole.

Gowan's piece can be accessed in the OFCC PAC Education Guide - it's time for class!
