Gun grabbers call: take guns out of homes (presumably even cops')
Submitted by cbaus on Sun, 03/27/2005 - 09:01.In the vain hope that the political climate of the 2000’s will mirror that of the Clinton 90’s, the gun ban lobby wasted no time in attempting to capitalize on the Red Lake High School shootings, despite the obvious fact that the fallacies of gun control were on display that cold Minnesota Monday. Following is a shameful press release issued by Ohio’s own gun ban extremist Toby Hoover, who fronts what often appears to be a one-woman show at the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, less than 24 hours after news of the shootings broke.

Protest letters continue to flood Ashland Times-Gazette – will they be printed?
Submitted by cbaus on Sun, 03/27/2005 - 08:51.The editor of the Ashland Times-Gazette, who recently announced that he has taken the privacy of 400 or more concealed handgun license (CHL)-holders hostage, and will release the information unless the Ohio General Assembly bends to his will, is certainly hearing from his readers. Many of them have copied OFCC when the letters were sent, and many say they have received NO replies. The question now is - will Daniels share these letters with his readers?
From: Bob N.
To: Ted Daniels, Ashland Times Gazette
Mr. Daniels,
I read, with great interest and disgust, the article written about you and about your intentions to publish the names and addresses of
CCW permits. I have NEVER seen a complete...SPECIAL EDITION...list of
registered sex offenders, their locations, their change of address (which
they frequently change) or a list of domestic violence (wife beaters) or
drunk drivers and their addresses and change of address, or Rapist and their
addresses and change of address or ...I think you understand what I am
getting at.
A list of law-abiding citizens who have gone through a thorough training
program and have submitted to an extensive background check and have been
properly licensed by the State of Ohio, is, as you put it, not very
exciting. By publishing mine and other holders of lawful CCW permits, their
names and addresses you are, somehow, in your mind rendering a public
service to the people who read the Ashland Gazette and/or the citizens of
Ashland county. NOT!
In reality Mr. Daniels, all you have managed to do is violate my right to
privacy and make me ashamed of our local newspaper. I do agree with the
statement made in the article below, that "you are using the same tactics as
terrorist use when they demand policy changes, and threaten beheadings if
they don't get their way."
SHAME ON YOU!!!
I can see why my neighbors and many others have stopped the Ashland Gazette
and began subscribing to the Mansfield News Journal or other publications.
You have lost your moral compass Mr. Daniels, and it's showing. PUBLISH THE
BAD GUYS MR. DANIELS, NOT THE GOOD GUYS!! Then you are doing a public
service and your newspaper has worth.
I sincerely hope that you have reconsidered your intention to publish name and
addresses of law-abiding citizens. It serves no purpose except to make you,
and only you, happy.
Regards,
Bob N.

Former AAA member shares note he received after canceling membership
Submitted by cbaus on Sun, 03/27/2005 - 08:41.For some consumers, OFCC’s recent story on the discriminatory policy of the AAA Ohio Motorists’ Association came as a surprise. Others have written to let us know they’ve been fighting this policy at Ohio's AAA branches for quite some time now. One OFCC supporter provided the following letter, which he received late last year, after canceling his long-time membership due to their anti-gun policy.

Dear Mr. XXXXX,
AAA is disappointed to hear that you will be cancelling [sic] your membership after many years with us. Our policy was established to protect our customers and employees. It is unfortunate that you feel that you are being discriminated against but the new law permits establishments such as AAA to post such signs.
On a more personal note, as a former U.S. Marine, I too, believe in the contstitutional [sic] right to bear arms. However, this right must also be balanced by the needs of the public to feel safe as they conduct business in public places such as AAA offices.
AAA appreciates your many years of membership and public service to Northeast Ohio. I hope you understand and will reconsider. Your membership expiration date is Jan. 31.

It is interesting to note that, as far as OFCC has been able to determine, Ohio is the only AAA in the country that has adopted this discriminatory policy. According to one OFCC Steering Committee member, who also cancelled his membership in Ohio recently, the national AAA has refused to get involved, even though they have not had a single problem in any AAA allowing CCW anywhere in the country.
We doubt Mr. Newbacher can address why we Ohioans are so dangerous with guns compared to the rest of the country. Or maybe he considers the all other AAA offices too dangerous.
Before one believes that Mr. Newbacher is "protecting" customers and employees, click to view the extensive list of crimes committed at "no-guns" businesses. Is advertising that customers and employees inside your business are defenseless really such a "safe" idea?

Op-Ed: American men: Too many wimps and sissies
Submitted by cbaus on Sun, 03/27/2005 - 08:36.March 25, 2005

By Devvy Kidd
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." Thomas Jefferson to Col. Charles Yancey, 1816
My last column on the feminization of American politics generated some complaints from "sensitive" men. One in particular was such a glaring example of how ignorant Americans are on the history of this republic, it simply cannot go unanswered.
One man named Guy wrote, "Stupid slag ... you have no Second Amendment rights ... the Second Amendment applies to militias, not individuals. ... I suggest you dust off your Constitution and actually read it instead of listening to other idiotic conservatives who haven't got two brain cells to rub together. ... You people make me sick."
Let's address Guy's statement that I have no Second Amendment rights and that the Second Amendment applies only to militias, because this fellow hasn't got a clue. This bastion of historical knowledge is simply parroting what he hears and reads from the controlled media because he's too intellectually lazy to research the history of his own country. He has accepted politically correct rulings by the Ninth (Silly) Circuit Federal Court because the brainwashed never wonder. The Ninth Circuit is the most over turned court in this country, and the gutless in Congress have refused to remove even one of those incompetent, agenda-driven judges.
Those who disagree with Guy, the Ninth Circuit and Handgun Control Inc.:
"The great object is that every man be armed. ... Everyone who is able may have a gun." Patrick Henry during Virginia's ratification convention (1788) in "The Debates of the Several State Conventions on the Adoption of the Federal Constitution" at 386, Jonathan Elliot (New York, Burt Franklin: 1888).
Could Patrick Henry be more specific? After all, he was directly involved in the process of adopting the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.
