Buckeye Firearms Volunteers Kickoff Election Homestretch

Are you engaged in a campaign?

This past Saturday, September 30, dozens of Buckeye Firearms Volunteers gathered in the Columbus area to stuff and address a mass mailing of this season’s voter guide. As you have seen from our previous coverage, a few key races are too close to call. In these tight races, the Ohio gun owner can be the deciding factor. Consequently, we timed our voter guide mailing with that of the first round of absentee voter ballots going out. As you may have previously seen on this website, this is the first election where any Ohio citizen, for any reason, may vote by mail. This is a fundamental shift in Ohio’s electoral landscape, as anyone can cast an absentee ballot. This type of mailing is very influential in absentee voter decision making.

Calling all volunteers!

By Jim Irvine

An email has recently been sent to every volunteer who has signed up on our web site to volunteer for a candidate who supports our Second Amendment rights.

If you wish to volunteer, but have not recently received an email with specific contact information about your State Representative, and State Senator if you live in an odd numbered Senate district, please click here to volunteer now.

We have only five weeks to Election Day. Ohio will soon elect a new Governor, as well as all other statewide races. In addition to statewide races, (including recently-endorsed Robert Cupp for Justice for Ohio Supreme Court), Buckeye Firearms Association has made endorsements for Ohio Senate, Ohio House of Representatives, U.S. Congress, and Appeals Court judges. Do you know who you are voting for? Do you shooting buddies understand how important this year’s races for Secretary of State and Auditor are? Do they understand that we have a chance to elect a pro-gun candidate to every statewide position? It can’t be done with a straight party vote for any party – you must know the candidates and the issues.

Our endorsed candidates are willing to go to Columbus or Washington D.C. and fight for your rights for 2-4 years. Will you give them two days of your time? Two hours? You can’t expect a candidate to act in your best interest if you are not willing to act yourself. This is a team effort, and for the next five weeks, the ball is in our court.

Unlike last year’s election, the anti-gun forces are out in force to defeat our good candidates. We must defend our friends. We want every candidate to fully understand the costs associated with being against us, and know the support that comes with working to restore our rights. Now is the time to demonstrate your support to them.

We have more people involved in more campaigns than ever before, but we still need additional help. A good HB347 (statewide preemption and removal of 'plain site' requirement), HB541 (Castle Doctrine), and many other improvements are within our grasp, but the anti-gun side just won a huge court ruling that threatens the rights of gun owners. Now is the time for us to respond in force.

Thanks to all those that are currently working on campaigns. You are the engine that is driving change in the direction we need it to go.
