Buckeye Firearms Assoc. issues more important primary endorsements
Submitted by cbaus on Sun, 04/09/2006 - 23:15.The Buckeye Firearms Association is proud to announce many more endorsements in both party primaries, focused on contested races to be decided on May 2, 2006.
What follows are details on several of the races, and a link to our entire roster of primary endorsements.
Steve Buehrer - R - Senate District 01
In 1998, Buehrer sought and was elected to the office of state representative from Ohio's 82nd House District (Defiance, Fulton and Williams Counties) with more than 61% of the vote. He was re-elected in November 2000, when his district became the 74th, and again in November 2002 and 2004 with a large majority. Representative Buehrer's leadership was recognized by his peers in the House as he was elected Assistant Majority Floor Leader for both the 124th and 125th General Assembly, becoming the first person from his district to ever serve in a leadership position in the Ohio House. "Representative Buehrer has been an exemplary defender of the 2nd Amendment during his tenure in the Ohio House," said Jim Irvine, Chairman, Buckeye Firearms Association. "Steve Buehrer has been a champion on sportsmen’s issues in the House and Northwest Ohio needs his leadership in the State Senate."
New Absentee Ballot Rules Remove Excuses - Make Plans to VOTE!
Submitted by jsalyers on Sun, 04/09/2006 - 23:10.Regular readers of this website should be aware by now that the May 2nd Primary is loaded with several contested races across Ohio. There are many good pro-gun candidates that will need help from pro-gun voters on May 2nd. Voter turn out is traditionally very low in primary elections for whatever reason. In today's busy world people may not be able to make time in their schedules to get to the polls. Others may feel that their vote does not count or the primary election is not really worth the time. As was seen as recently as the last Presidential election, nothing could be farther from the truth.
This year marks a very positive step for the election process in Ohio. Anyone anywhere can vote via absentee ballot without having to meet any criteria to be eligible. The days of hearing excuses about not being able to visit the polls should be a thing of the past.
Election officials are predicting limited use of this new option because of lack of publicity and the fact that the May 2nd Primary is the first election where it can utilized.

The Ohio Secretary of State website states that "A qualified Ohio voter does not have to state a reason to vote by an absentee ballot, although the ballot must be applied for in writing. If you are properly registered to vote, you must submit your written request to the board of elections of the county in which your voting residence is located."
