Mixed reporting from Columbus TV station on pro-gun legislation
Submitted by cbaus on Mon, 05/22/2006 - 23:10.Two pieces of gun-related legislation which have been introduced weeks or months ago, which have had multiple committee hearings, and in one case has been overwhelmingly passed by the Ohio House, were finally discovered and reported on by Columbus' NBC 4 last week.
While it is a sad commentary on the media that this is such a rare occurence as to warrant special attention, credit is due NBC 4 for its straight-up treatment of HB541 (which will receive yet another hearing this week in the Senate) without the misleading inflamatory headlines or obvious anti-gun bias.

The U.N. Wants Your Guns
Submitted by cbaus on Mon, 05/22/2006 - 23:05.By Chris Chumita
The global war on your personally owned firearms has already begun. The NRA and its Executive Vice-President, Wayne LaPierre, have been trying to sound the alarm for years. So far, it does not appear that many people are listening.
The United Nations (U.N.), the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA), and other countries are trying to ban the private ownership of almost all firearms in the United States. The worst part is that extreme U.N. gun laws can be implemented in the United States WITHOUT passing a treaty.
In order to take action, you must be aware of what is going on and you must know who the players are.
The best source of information is Wayne LaPierre’s new book, “The Global War On Your Guns.” This book will give you the details on what happened, what may happen, and what you can do about it. It is an excellent read, but it may give you nightmares. The NRA and Wayne LaPierre has created a website that is filled with detailed information about the possible U.N. gun ban, and you can even get a free copy of his book by making a donation to the NRA.
