Special Youth Hunting Seasons Make Fall a Special Time
Submitted by cbaus on Wed, 10/17/2007 - 23:10.By Larry S. Moore
Fall is a special time of year in nature. The seasons change bringing a rainbow spectrum of colors to Ohio’s woods. It is my favorite season to be outdoors. Of course the hunting seasons, whether squirrel, dove, deer or turkey, add excitement to the outdoor experience. I think back to those days, now over 18-years ago, when I first took my oldest son hunting with me. The first hunts with him and the hunts that followed with my younger son and daughter are special memories. I am indeed blessed that they continue to join me in the field. I am also blessed that I am able to mentor some new youth whose families do not hunt. I think I’ve learned as much from them as perhaps they have from me.
The special early youth seasons are here. I am excited to be taking these young people hunting again. Who knows, maybe this year they will actually harvest their first deer!

Op-Ed: Ron’s Revolution - Could Dr. Paul really surprise us all?
Submitted by cbaus on Wed, 10/17/2007 - 23:05.By Dave Kopel
[Recently] I attended and spoke at the Second Amendment Foundation’s annual Gun Rights Policy Conference, which was held at a convention center in northern Kentucky, a few miles away from Cincinnati. What I saw and heard there changed my mind about the viability of Ron Paul’s presidential candidacy; Paul is going to far outperform the expectations laid out for him.
First, for some background: twenty years ago, the Second Amendment Foundation (the second-largest pro-Second Amendment group in the U.S.) began sponsoring an annual Gun Rights Policy Conference, in conjunction with other pro-gun groups, including the NRA. For a full working day on Saturday, and half a day on Sunday, the conference features 10-15 minute speeches by writers, radio hosts, group leaders, and other pro-2d Amendment activists.’’
This year, the audience was the biggest ever...

Sen. Steve Buehrer delivers sponsor testimony on 'Castle Doctrine' legislation
Submitted by cbaus on Wed, 10/17/2007 - 10:58.Buckeye Firearms Assocation representatives were on hand today as Sen. Steve Buehrer delivered sponsor testimony on SB184 in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Criminal Justice.
Buehrer is the primary sponsor for the bill, which is often referred to as “Castle Doctrine” legislation, but is also known by “Stand your Ground”, “Victim Bill of Rights” and several other names.
When introducing the bill, Senator Buehrer said, "This legislation is an important step toward making Ohioans feel safer in their homes, businesses and communities. People should have every right to defend themselves without fear of prosecution."
At the hearing, Senator Bill Seitz called it "important legislation and we should have it already."
Anti-gun zealots will label this Bill a “license to murder” or “shoot first” law, as they have done in other states which have considered or adopted self-defense reform. A simple reading of this three page Bill shows these obstructionists are lying about the content of the Bill.
This legislation is about protecting crime victims and restoring the presumption of innocence to those forced to act in self-defense.
