Giuliani Seeking Support From NRA, Group He Once Likened to 'Extremists'
Submitted by cbaus on Thu, 09/20/2007 - 23:15.By Chad D. Baus
Just how stupid does he think we are?
The Washington Post is reporting that today is the day Rudy Giuliani will go before the rank and file of the National Rifle Association - a group he once likened to "extremists" for its efforts to repeal the ban on assault weapons - seeking support for his Republican presidential campaign.
The Post notes that even as the former New York mayor strives to erase our collective memory of his anti-gun record, at the gathering in Washington, a panel of federal judges in his home town will be hearing arguments on the lawsuit that Giuliani filed seven years ago aimed at putting the nation's gun manufacturers out of business.
From the story:
- Announcing the lawsuit in 2000, then-Mayor Giuliani wrote in his weekly column about issues facing the city that "this is an industry which profits from the suffering of innocent people. The lawsuit is intended to end the free pass that the gun industry has enjoyed for a very long time, which has resulted in too many avoidable deaths."

Buckeye Firearms Assoc. attends USSA's 11th Annual Save Our Heritage Rally
Submitted by cbaus on Thu, 09/20/2007 - 23:10.By Gerard Valentino
Several members of Buckeye Firearms joined hunters, anglers and trappers from across that state at the recent United States Sportsman’s Alliance's 11th Annual Save Our Heritage Rally held at the Aladdin Shrine Temple on September 15th.
The event, as always, was well organized and guns, hunting trips and other outdoors accessories were given away by the truckload - including a Bennelli shotgun won by yours truly! (I hesitated mentioning winning an item like this, it is the first time I have EVER won anything, so I can’t help but gloat).
The keynote speaker, Governor Ted Strickland, was the highlight of the event. His quick but powerful remarks included a promise that while he was Governor our rights as gun owners and outdoorsmen would never be eroded. His exact words were, “I may not have control over the legislature, but I have control over the veto pen.” With that statement the Governor got the final standing ovation of three.
When he was announced, it was noted that in the ten years the USSA has held its banquet this was the first time a sitting Governor ever attended as a keynote speaker, leading to the Governor’s second standing ovation of the evening.
He also put his money where his mouth was by purchasing the maximum amount of raffle tickets, which was apparent by the orange hat he wore was given only to those that made the highest donation possible. In typical fashion, he didn’t actually put his tickets in the hopper, so although he donated he didn’t give himself a chance to win.

A Criminal Mind
By Jim Irvine
Many people find the brutality of criminals “surprising” or “shocking.” Their behavior makes complete sense to those who understand the criminal mind.
Most people understand that the lion choosing its prey looks for the young, the old, or the sick or injured when deciding which animal to “cut from the herd.” They never single out the biggest and strongest. This is normal behavior for the lion.
