Gov. Strickland signs Amended Substitute HB450 (Armed Services 18-21 gun rights restoration)
Submitted by cbaus on Thu, 12/18/2008 - 01:20.Governor Ted Strickland, a former Buckeye Firearms Association endorsee, finished off his second year as governor by signing yet another pro-gun bill into law.
According to his website, the Governor signed Rep. Bruce Goodwin's Am. Sub. House Bill 450 into law on January 6, 2009.
Rep. Goodwin was the primary sponsor of the legislation, which lifts a state law which banned members of the armed services or the Ohio National Guard who are under 21 and have received firearms training from purchasing or possessing a handgun. The bill also clarifies the residency criterion for the concealed handgun license (CHL), and also clarifies that any previously issued CHL that has not been revoked is prima-facie evidence that a licensee at one time had a competency certification.

Meet US Concealed Carry Assoc. President Tim Schmidt
Submitted by drieck on Thu, 12/18/2008 - 00:10.by Dean Rieck
When I saw the first issue of Concealed Carry Magazine a few years ago, I thought, "Wow. What a great idea."
Until then, there were all sorts of gun publications, but nothing that focused solely on concealed carry, which I had just become interested in.
It was marvelous. No macho nonsense. Just clear, interesting information about carrying concealed written for ordinary folks like me.
The magazine, and the organization behind it, United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), was the brainchild of Tim Schmidt. Tim is a Second Amendment supporter who saw an opportunity to help educate a rapidly growing population of Americans who, like him, refuse to be sheep.
I had a chance to talk to Tim recently about USCCA.

Preparing for Mumbai - In America
Submitted by cbaus on Thu, 12/18/2008 - 00:05.By Gabe Suarez
There has been a great deal of discussion about what to carry for an event like Mumbai. Gents, let's think about this. If you happen to be caught up in this at its conclusion, facing a dozen riflemen working together as a unit, and you with your Kel-Tec, what do you think your realistic chances of success are? Being real is not being defeatist, but come on.
Now, at the outset of the event, where there may be only one or two adversaries, it gets a little better in terms of odds. But only a little. You have one advantage and that is the advantage of surprise and one target. They, on the other hand have many avenues of danger to cover, only one which is yours. This will be a rapidly moving fluid situation.
One man was saying that using a cell phone to photograph the bad guys would be good. Pictures of the bad guys on your cell phone? Come on....seriously? If you have the ability to take their picture, you also have the ability to take their life, or GTFOT (get the f*** out of there) so get out of the evidence collecting mindset.
