FLASH: 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Rules State and Local Governments Subject to Second Amendment

In a bit of a Pyrrhic victory, the 9th Circuit today found that the Second Amendment applies to State and Local districts, joining the 5th Circuit which previously ruled similarly in the Emerson case.

At the same time, the Court found that the city's ban of firearms on public property did not violate the Second Amendment. While gun owners might scratch their heads over this "logic", the important part of the decision is that the Court held that the Second Amendment is incorporated against state and local governments via the 14th Amendment. (The Chicago cases, at the trial level, have ruled otherwise.)

Exposed: The anti-gun agenda behind ABC News' "Before Arranging Playdates, Ask About Guns"

By Jeff Riley

ABC News is on a mission. They have the target picked out, and are throwing everything at it, including the kitchen sink. What or who is their target? Why it's YOU, dear reader - one of millions of responsible gun owners who reside in America.

In the past two weeks, the airwaves were filled with a litany of anti-gun stories promulgated by ABC: "If I Only Had a Gun (Carrying a Gun Wouldn't Necessarily Get You Out of a Shooting)," "Easy Access: $5,000 and One Hour Buys 10 Guns," and, finally, "Before Arranging Playdates, Ask About Guns."

This article will focus on the development of the "Playdates" story, written by Eric M. Strauss, and will reveal the depths ABC News is willing to go to deliver a story full of slanted reporting and anti-gun bias.

25-year police veteran to Toledo residents: "Buy guns. Invest in precious metals: lead, gun power and brass."

By Chad D. Baus

For the past several weeks, the Toledo Blade has been reporting on a severe budget short-fall that the City of Toledo has spent itself into.

After weeks of back-and-forth debate between Mayor Carty Finkbeiner - who is likely to be facing a recall at the ballot box this September - Toledo city council, and unions representing police and firefighters' unions, the Finkbeiner administration has announced plans to issue layoff notices to as many as 350 city employees. While not yet being specific as to who will be laid off, Councilman Frank Szollosi has introduced legislation that would eliminating the jobs of 151 police officers, 100 firefighters, and 90 nonsafety personnel.

When news of the potential police department layoffs and paycuts first circulated several weeks ago, a 25-year police veteran stated that "If I'm an average citizen of Toledo, I definitely would be concerned."

The unnamed veteran gave this advice to city residents:

"Tell people to buy guns. Invest in precious metals - lead, gun powder and brass."
