The Houston Chronicle is reporting that more Americans than ever oppose new government efforts to regulate guns, even despite Obama administration efforts to blame law-abiding Americans for Mexico's drug-related violence problem.

The report says recent polls show shrinking support for new gun control measures and strong public sentiment for enforcing existing laws instead. So strong is the shift in public opinion that a proposed assault-weapons ban — once backed by three in four Americans — now rates barely one in two.

The Cybercast News Service is reporting that Congressional Democrats have introduced legislation that would ban the sale of guns between individuals at gun shows. The legislators staged a press conference with a few survivors of students killed at Virginia Tech, even though the mass murderer responsible for the Virginia Tech massacre did not acquire his guns at gun shows (nor was he deterred by the Commonwealth of Virginia's one-gun-a-month rule).
