Forum on Second Amendment issues hosted by Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor in NE Ohio

Last month, Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor (R) was in Portage County for a roundtable on issues related to Ohio sportsmen and Second Amendment rights advocates. Attendees came from all over Northeast Ohio including Portage, Cuyahoga, Trumbull, Geauga and Medina Counties, to name a few. The event was so well attended that even after additional tables were added it was still "standing room only" for the later arrivals.

There was lots of good discussion on a variety of topics such as concealed handgun license increases, conservation of Ohio land and wildlife, and firearm education. Attendees were clearly well informed and asked detailed questions. Lt. Gov. Taylor displayed an excellent working knowledge of the broad field of topics discussed.

The shooting sports represent a broad cross section of Ohioans. From target and competition, to sports and hunting, to self-protection and collecting, gun owners are comprised of all social, economic, racial, and political groups. They are family people who want real solutions to real problems, not the damaging political nonsense that comes from the anti-gun, anti-self-defense groups.

While many politicians fall short because all they can do it parrot talking points, Lt. Gov. Taylor was able to connect and discuss issues with this diverse group because she understands the issues. She was able to talk about the accomplishments the Kasich administration as well as future goals. From concealed carry issues, to improved hunting options, to range development to increases in Pittman-Robertson Federal aid, this administration has shown they value a working relationship with all gun owners. And though non-gun owners may not understand why, that is good news for all Ohioans because it enhances the safety and finances where we all live.

This event was put on in conjunction with the Ohio Republican Party’s Coalitions Program and members of the Sportsmen and Second Amendment Rights Advocates Coalitions. To learn more about how to get involved, you can contact Jen Thrasher at [email protected] or 614-228-2481.
