Why is Montgomery Co. Sheriff Phil Plummer closely associated with Dayton's rapist-for-gun-control? [UPDATE - He's not.]
[UPDATE 9:00pm - The author spoke to Sheriff Plummer, who stated that he resigned from the board of The Adam Project three (3) years ago. He was unaware that he was still listed as a board member on The Adam Project Facebook page. He assured Buckeye Firearms Association that he in no way supports The Adam Project and convicted rapist Jerome McCorry's anti-gun agenda.]

On Wednesday, we broke the news on the fact that Dayton anti-gun protestor Jerome McCorry, who had staged a small protest outside Bill Goodman's Gun & Knife Show over the weekend and received generous media attention, is also a convicted rapist. We noted that Anti-Gun-Protestor Jerome McCorry is seen on WHIO wearing a jacket and identified in the on-screen graphic as the President of The Adam Project. The Adam Project's website lists its address as 1426 Home Ave., Dayton - the same address as Rapist-and-Convicted-Felon Jerome McCorry.
We also pointed out that, despite this fact, media outlets like the Dayton Daily News and WHIO-TV (CBS Dayton) (and, as it turns out, WKEF (ABC Dayton), not only failed to report the fact that McCorry is a sex offender in their coverage of the protest, but that they have repeatedly failed to do so in past coverage about McCorry.
The article quickly went viral, receiving approximately 40,000 reads in the first 48 hours, and continues to receive strong traffic.
Many have been asking Dayton media outlets why they have given legitimacy to this rapist's calls for potential crime victims to be disarmed. While neither WKEF nor the Dayton Daily News have responded, Dayton blogger "Domestic Debacle" did receive a response from WHIO, in which they admitted that they were aware of McCorry's status as a sex offender, yet failed to report it.
According to WHIO, they didn't report on McCorry's "controversial" status as a convicted rapist because, these days, his message is one of "community harmony through peace and non-violence." WHIO also noted that the sex offender "has the endorsement of respected law enforcement leaders."
McCorry's personal Facebook page appears to have been shut down (Facebook TOS prohibits registered sex offenders from having an account). However, a reader of the Dayton blog "Domestic Debacle," and self-described poster on Buckeye Firearms Association's forums, took a look at The Adam Project Facebook page, and notes that the "respected law enforcement leaders" that have "endorsed" the rapist-for-gun-control are apparently none other than Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer and his Chief Deputy, Scot Landis.

Why are Montgomery Co. Sheriff Phil Plummer and his Chief Deputy serving on the board of an anti-gun organization that is headed by a convicted rapist? Are they not concerned that the organization is operating out of the very same address that is listed on the sex offender registry as the home of Jerome McCorry?

Why are Dayton's media outlets continuing to duck questions about why they have, for several years now, covered events organized by McCorry, and to given his protests legitimacy, all without reporting on his status as a registered sex offender?
Long-time readers of BuckeyeFirearms.org may recall that this isn't the first time a media outlet has ignored someone's status as a sex offender.
In 2007, Sandusky Register editor Matt Westerhold published the names of concealed handgun license-holders, and published a follow-up editorial comparing his list of license-holders to the sexual offender registry.
Buckeye Firearms Association responded with several articles, and ultimately documented the fact that the Sandusky Register was employing at least one registered sex offender, either on a contractor basis or as an employee. We also noted that the Sandusky Register's main office was within 1,000 feet of several schools, and reported the fact that this person's duties appeared to have included making numerous deliveries throughout Sandusky and surrounding areas in the dead of night.
The Register failed to acknowledge or respond to our 2007 report, just as WKEF, the Dayton Daily News
and Sheriff Plummer are ignoring such questions today. Shame on them all.
