Ohio Outdoor News Hits Stands Jan. 6th

The News Democrat in Georgetown is reporting that Ohio sportsmen and women have a new publication available that covers news and just about everything outdoors related in Ohio. I had the opportunity to read through the premier issue of Ohio Outdoor News and am looking forward to many more.

From the story:

Ohio’s sportsmen and women who like to keep up on the state’s outdoor happenings now have a new publication to check out. Ohio Outdoor News, an independent Minnesota-based publishing company, recently launched Ohio Outdoor News and has selected a Brown County native to run the show. Mike Moore, who grew up in Hamersville, is the editor of OON and is working to provide Ohioans with the latest, most complete news and features on everything concerning wildlife and the outdoors in Ohio.

“We will follow the seasons closely and provide coverage from all of Ohio’s diverse regions,” said Moore, in a telephone interview from his Delaware home, also the base of OON. “From big buck country in the southeast to the fishing jewel, Lake Erie, we will have interesting and, hopefully, informative news as well as features and great tips. We want to help people with everything from where to find bucks in deer hunting season to the best tackle to use on the Ohio River.”

The story goes on to provide some impressive history on the editor and wraps up with further detail about content, obtaining a subscription and a request for photos and other outdoor related items.

Again from the story:

Moore hopes OON will capture the wealth of sporting stock and relay the outdoors to subscribers. “Ohio has so much to offer,” said Moore. “We want to take advantage of the states resources and promote them any way we can.”

Outdoor News has publications in several midwest states (a link in one way or another to the Great Lakes,) including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania. Ohio’s edition is the newest string of successful wildlife-based news sources, and Moore said our state was a natural fit. “There are so many hunters, anglers and sportsmen of all kinds in Ohio,” said Moore. “We were the logical next step.”

The premier issue of Ohio Outdoor News was released last month and has already attracted several readers. OON will publish 26 issues a year, one every two weeks, each one filled with news and updates, from the latest decisions by the Ohio Division of Natural Resources to the best secret turkey hunting spots. Subscriptions are $18 for one year, $32 for two years and $1.25 per single copy. For subscription information, call (800) 960-7476. OON is also available on-line at www.ohiooutdoornews.com

Moore and OON are always looking for sporting articles and ideas and encourages local enthusiasts to submit photos of big game.

The next issue of OON hits stands Jan. 6, so make plans to pick up a copy for all of Ohio’s sport-related news, columns, features, classifieds, photos and more.
