With polls showing Ken Blackwell holding anywhere from a 12 to 21 percentage-point lead over Attorney General Jim Petro in the Republican Party primary one week from election day, the Petro campaign has embarked on a Statewide Bus Tour as a get-out-the-vote effort.
Although primary ballots won't be cast until Tuesday, political pundits this weekend were already turning their attention to November, suggesting that poll results showing a contest between Ken Blackwell and Ted Strickland is the Democrats' best hope of taking the governor's office.
No matter which Republican wins on Tuesday, the simple fact is this: Bob Taft has done severe damage to his Party's hopes for continuing to maintain power in Ohio, and party leaders who backed him can't say they weren't warned.

The recent summit led by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was yet another example of the anti-gun movement proving that their own cause has failed.
Bloomberg, and his band of big city mayors, called for an increase in the tracking of illegal guns, and more education for citizens on how to avoid violent encounters. Both ideas are excellent ways to reduce crime and help honest people live without fear of becoming the victim of a criminal attack. Unfortunately, Bloomberg’s gang headed by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino also called for more restrictive gun-control measures.
Considering the mountain of evidence that disproves gun-control as a viable way to reduce crime it is inexplicable that the mayors of two of America’s largest cities could be so ill-informed on the issue. Bloomberg and Menino don’t have to look any farther than their backyard to see just how poorly gun-control has fared. New York City and Massachusetts are two of the least gun friendly places in the nation. Yet, their crime rate is higher than places with permissive concealed carry laws, and places with laws that give the presumption of innocence to law-abiding citizens who use justified deadly force.

Yesterday morning, a man shot a police officer at the Cleveland Hopkins Airport. Today I talked with fellow officers at the airport and I’m happy to report that the officer underwent surgery this morning and is doing well. He is expected to make a full recovery. That is great news.
The airport is posted “no guns” which of course did nothing to prevent this shooting. Signs (or regulations) that prohibit law abiding citizens from having a firearm to defend life are no more effective at preventing mayhem as laws that say, “no murder.” Criminals do not abide by the “rules of society.” That is why we call them criminals.

Press Conference
Ohio Secretary of State Offices
180 Broad Street, Columbus,
11:00 a.m. Monday, May 1
The Peirce for Governor Campaign announced today that it has obtained more than 9,000 signatures and will have close to 11,000 by the filing deadline of Monday, May 1. This should be enough to ensure the 5,000 valid signatures required on a nominating petition for an independent gubernatorial candidate. Bill Peirce and his running mate Mark Noble are
running as independents because the Libertarian Party of Ohio, which endorses their candidacy, does not have ballot status.

Perusing the Internet these days, the searcher can come up with any subject from A to Z, and then some. That also applies to talk forums. Many forums are extremely informative, usually loosely based around a particular subject, but then some forums can take on a life of their own, and sometimes that life becomes rather raunchy and no longer a good place to visit.
There's a new forum on the block that promises to be a good, clean place to visit. Buckeye Firearms Columbus volunteer Neil Watson started AR15Armory.com forum on Sept. 16, and it has rocketed to success with over 67,000 posts and nearly 900 members.

“What a glorious morning this is!”
--Samuel Adams, April 19, 1775
April 19, was Patriot’s Day; a day to remember how it all started. It’s not a very popular holiday nowadays, but nevertheless, I hope you didn’t forget.

Buckeye Firearms Association is proud to endorse Ted Strickland for Governor of Ohio in the May 2 Democratic primary election.
Mr. Strickland grew up hunting in Appalachian Ohio. As a child he learned that guns are tools to put food on the table. As an adult he understands that concealed carry to protect your family is equally important.
Congressmen Strickland has been a consistent defender of our Second Amendment rights in Washington D.C. and deserves Democrats' support in the primary on May 2, 2006.

Contrary to a recent campaign mailing by Representative Ron Hood, he is not currently endorsed by Buckeye Firearms Association in the upcoming May 2nd Republican primary for Ohio 31st Senate District.
Hood's campaign letter specifically states "This record has earned me the endorsement of the...Buckeye Firearms Association..."
As a grassroots organization run by volunteers, Buckeye Firearms is rabidly defensive of the integrity of its endorsement process. In the May 2, 2006 Republican Primary election, Tim Schaffer has our sole endorsement for Senator in the 31st district.
Buckeye Firearms has an obligation to defend candidates that have earned our endorsement, and our endorsed candidate the 31st Senate District race is Representative Tim Schaffer (R-5).

Buckeye Firearms Association is proud to announce the launch of our 2006 Primary Voter Guide Generator, which will enable pro-gun voters to receive a personalized Voter Guide via email.
"Typically, a voter guide will contain a great deal of information that does not pertain to an individual voter," said Southwest Ohio Chair Joe Eaton. "Therefore in the past it has been up to the voter to educate themselves on which districts (state House & Senate, Congressional, Court of Appeals, etc.) they reside in before being able to determine which endorsees they will see on their ballot. The personalized 2006 Primary Voter Guide Generator will aide the pro-gun voter by emailing them a personalized guide that contains only information as specific to their area as possible."
Buckeye Firearms Association encourages pro-gun voters to make plans to go to the polls Tuesday, May 2, or to vote absentee.

In this 2nd Edition of The Rink Report, we are examining the 2nd
Congressional District Republican Primary race, which is just days
away. This race is being fought between Congresswoman Jean Schmidt, and
Bob McEwen. Buckeye Firearms Association has endorsed Congresswoman
Schmidt.
Challenger Bob McEwen, a Congressman from the Sixth Congressional
District from 1981 until the start of 1993 seems to be in a lot of
trouble in this boistrous race. According to a Survey USA poll released
recently, McEwen trails Congresswoman Schmidt by 23%. This follows a
generally bad period for McEwen, after the Cincinnati Enquirer raised
questions on Easter Sunday about McEwen's possibly illegal practice of
living in Virginia while voting in Ohio.
