Gun Grabbers

Bloomberg Outrage: Asks judge to ban Second Amendment references!

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has moved from outrage to atrocity by asking anti-gun activist federal Judge Jack B. Weinstein to ban any reference to the Second Amendment during a civil lawsuit trial beginning May 27 against Georgia gun dealer Jay Wallace, proprietor at Adventure Outdoors.

The New York Sun reported that Bloomberg’s attorneys made the request. Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, said the move clearly shows that Bloomberg has “total disregard not only for the Second Amendment, but also the First.”

Bloomberg’s attorney on this case, Eric Proshansky, has reportedly argued in a brief that “Any references to the Second Amendment or analogous state constitutional provisions are likewise irrelevant” to the upcoming trial.

“This trial is supposed to be held in a federal court, not a kangaroo court,” Gottlieb stated. “What’s next, a request that Judge Weinstein not allow defense witnesses or rebuttal? Why not just dispense with the trial altogether and lynch Mr. Wallace from the limb of a tree out in Central Park?

Meijer Ends Promotion with HSUS

(Columbus, OH) - Midwest Retail Giant Meijer, Inc. has ended its promotion with the nation’s largest anti-hunting organization.

The leadership at Meijer, a Michigan-based regional chain of retail superstores, has responded to the concerns of the sportsman community and ended its partnership with the anti-hunting group, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), in an online pet photo contest.

LIE: “Va. Tech more secure a year after massacre”

By Jim Irvine

In a recent story titled, “Va. Tech more secure a year after massacre,” USA Today promotes lies and the exact feel good head in the sand mindset that helped a sick man kill 32 innocent people a year ago.

The sad fact is that the school is NOT more secure today than it was. School administrators have spent a lot of time and money on everything but the real issue; enabling those facing a deadly threat to stop it. They trample on the most basic freedom; to defend one’s own life. They fought to ensure they students remain helpless victims.

Fake Pro-Gun Group Endorses Fake Pro-Gun Candidate

By Chad D. Baus

Pro-gun groups have been trying to sound the alarm about Barack Obama’s extreme anti-gun record since his Presidential campaign began. While his record includes opposing letting people use a self-defense argument if charged with violating local handgun bans by using weapons in their homes, and being a member of the Joyce Foundation (which provides groups like the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence hundreds of thousands of dollars to use in their fight to destroy your gun rights), Obama’s campaign lip service as been all about his supposed support for gun rights.

Obama’s true beliefs about gun owners were exposed for more Americans recently when he described small town Midwesterners as “bitter”. “They cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations,” Obama snidely told a group of San Francisco donors.

It is clear to gun owners who are paying attention that this man cannot be trusted to uphold the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. But for those who are less involved in the political process, Obama’s “pro-gun” charade is likely working, just as a certain “hunters and shooters” group has succeeded in convincing some gun owners that they support the Second Amendment.

But when the American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA) endorsed Barack Obama for President, they finally took a step that should expose both the organization and Obama to even the most disconnected gun owner.

(Misguided) Mayors Against Illegal Guns

By Gerard Valentino

The organization Mayors Against Illegal Guns is in the news again for announcing an ad campaign to raise awareness of how illegal guns are often used in crimes. While everyone agrees that stopping the flow of guns to criminals is of vital public interest, the organizations stated goals are worthy of a “Captain of the Obvious” award.

Led by the rabidly anti-gun Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, the group’s stated goal is to keep guns out of the hands of criminals or the mentally ill. As if anyone in America is saying they are for putting more guns in the hands of criminals.

Op-Ed: City of Chicago misfires on gun violence

By Steve Chapman

When a rash of gun murders takes place, it makes sense for the police to do one of two things: renew tactics that have been effective in the past at curbing homicides, or embrace ideas that have not been tried before. But those options don't appeal to Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis. What he proposes instead is a crackdown on assault weapons.

I'm tempted to say this is the moral equivalent of a placebo—a sugar pill that is irrelevant to the malady at hand. But that would be unfair. Placebos, after all, sometimes have a positive effect. Assault weapons bans, not so much.

If there are too many guns in Chicago, it's not because of any statutory oversight. The city has long outlawed the sale and possession of handguns. It also forbids assault weapons. If prohibition were the answer, no one would be asking the question.

Compounding a Tragedy: Anti-gunners dance in VT massacre victim's blood

By Gerard Valentino

The one year anniversary of the Virginia Tech massacre was celebrated across the United States by the anti-gun crowd. Yes, they chose to celebrate, and it’s telling to see protesters using the death of 32 innocent people for political gain by planning “Lie-ins to Protest Easy Gun.”

Nobody should be surprised that the anti-gun left is capable of inconsiderate actions since in the aftermath of the murders they seemed to take joy at the chance to exploit a spree killing for their own gain.

Their joy was short lived however, since the media and politicians quickly downplayed any increase in restrictive gun laws. It was the first time a spree killing perpetrated with a gun didn’t lead to deafening calls for more gun-control by the establishment media. One year later, the anti-gun schemers are again compounding the Virginia Tech tragedy by using it to push their misguided political agenda.

For years the pro-gun community has reminded the establishment media that the anti-gun movement was built on emotion based arguments. The demonstrations that took place on college campuses on the anniversary of the Virginia Tech massacre are a perfect example of the anti-gun groups using emotion, instead of logic, to make their case.

If the do-gooders really want to save the children, they should forget about guns and focus on doctors

By Gerard Valentino & Chad D. Baus

Last month, actor Dennis Quaid took to the airwaves on 60 Minutes to speak out about a medical mistake that nearly took the life of his newborn twins. Quaid just can't seem to understand why more people aren't aware of the problem, even though he says 100,000 people are killed every year by medical mistakes (the number is probably quite a bit higher), and even though the medial journal Pediatrics reports that 1 in 15 hospitalized children are administered drugs improperly (540,000 times per year!). It is a problem which Quiad points out is "bigger than AIDS. It's bigger than breast cancer. It's bigger than automobile accidents."

Perhaps the reason more people aren't aware of this problem is because people like Dennis Quaid have a history of spending too much time ranting about issues that impact far fewer lives, sucking up available air time and distracting Americans from issues much more vital, such as the one he is now addressing.

You see, according to the NRA-ILA, Dennis Quaid is among a group of celebrities who has "lent their name and notoriety to anti-gun causes, speaking out for anti-gun legislation and providing a voice for anti-gun organizations."

Democrat candidates to Midwestern gun owners: You are bitter and stupid

Me to gun owners who vote for either one: You're just stupid.

One insults our small-town values. The other insults our inteligence. Just another week in the Democrats' 2008 Presidential primary.

Protests Marking Virginia Tech Murders To Tell Only One Side Of The Story

By Brent Greer

On Wednesday, April 16, gun control and anti self defense organizations are planning a series of protests around the nation to commemorate the one year anniversary of the mass murders at Virginia Tech. Remember? This was a likely preventable tragedy, had university administrators not openly scoffed at the common-sense proposal to permit students, faculty and staff the means to defend themselves.

Instead, a man opened fire on students in two locations, killing more than 30. The students never had a chance because campus administrators around this nation live in fear of their own shadows. Campuses where open thought and discussion are allegedly encouraged are shut down, and reasonable proposals and debate to enable students to protect themselves are dismissed out of hand with no comprehension of the unintended consequences.

Sadly, Virginia Tech administrators, students, staff, professors and families learned all about unintended consequences.
