8/31/06: Mt. Vernon, Ohio: Hunting Season Set To Begin In Ohio
From the article:
MOUNT VERNON — The 2006-07 hunting season will begin Friday with the opening of squirrel and mourning dove seasons. Several changes have been made to this year’s hunting regulations, the most prominent being the addition of the Apprentice Hunting License Program. Other changes include a re-zoning of Knox County for the water-foul season and a second deer gun season.
The Apprentice Hunting License Program was designed to give novice hunters a chance to hunt alongside an experienced hunter without first completing the hunter’s education course. The apprentice license can be purchased no more than three times in the hunter’s life, encouraging the hunter after three seasons to take the hunter’s education course.
The Apprentice Hunting License Program is a great opportunity to introduce a child or an adult to hunting. Make it your goal to introduce at least one new person to hunting this year.
