There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.

What follows is our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.

From a victim fighting back to an antigun politician owning a gun, these articles should be a part of your required reading!

What follows is several days of headlines accompanied by short, concise pro-gun analysis.

1/4/09: Springfield, Ohio: Springfield Man Shoots Home Invader

From the article:

Springfield police said an elderly homeowner opened fire Saturday on a man trying to enter his home.

Thanks to the availability of a firearm, the victim was not harmed and was able to defend his life, and his castle.

1/3/09: Lancaster, Ohio: 'Fit' Is Important Factor For Residents To Consider When Buying Firearms

From the article:

There is a lot more to think about when purchasing a firearm than just grabbing a gun off of the shelf, according to Carl Drury, co-owner of Ohio Valley Outdoors.

Giving credit where credit is due. A newspaper publishes an objective article on firearms and self-defense.

1/2/09: Cleveland, Ohio: Cleveland Police Radio System Breaks Down Again

From the article:

Problems with the system began about 9:30 a.m. Monday when the system crashed. It was the third time it has crashed in the past 12 months. Dispatchers could not contact patrol cars, resulting in delayed responses to an undetermined number of 9-1-1 calls.

How are the police supposed to "protect" us if they cannot be quickly dispatched? This is just another example of why we have to be able to defend ourselves instead of just waiting for the police.

1/1/09: Cleveland, Ohio: Police: Man Shot In Leg, Truck Stolen

From the article:

Cleveland police are looking for the people who shot a man in the leg and then stole the victim's pickup truck.

How could something like this happen in Cleveland? That's right - they are to busy enforcing illegal gun laws against law-abiding citizens.

12/30/08: Cleveland, Ohio: Man Shoots Attacking Dog At Rocky River Metropark

From the article:

A Metroparks visitor carrying a concealed gun fatally shot a rottweiler that attacked his leashed dog at Tyler Field off Valley Parkway.

And the media wonders why concealed carry might be necessary in a public park. I don't know about you, but I probably would have done the same thing.

12/28/08: Columbus, Ohio: Clerk, 73, Shot During Robbery

From the article:

Investigators said that an armed man entered the business and demanded money from the clerk's register before shooting the clerk and leaving the store.

Store clerks actually have a dangerous job. Any store clerk should be allowed to carry a firearms for self-defense while at work.

12/28/08: Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania: Man Slept Undetected In Pa. Woman's Attic

From the article:

Police in northeastern Pennsylvania said an intruder slept undetected for days in a woman's attic, stealing food and clothing when the homeowner and her family were away.

Wow, this is truely a horrifying story. Thankfully, the intruder was not a violent predator.

12/28/08: State Wide: Muzzleloader season in Ohio set for Dec. 27-30

From the article:

Ohio's popular muzzleloader deer season is set to open statewide Dec. 27-30, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife. Last year, hunters checked 21,473 white-tailed deer during the statewide hunt.

By the time you read this, muzzle season will be over. Hopefully you had a successful hunt!

12/24/08: Cleveland, Ohio: Phillip Morris: Tubbs-Jones Burglary Draws Community, Police Ire

From the article:

In addition to walking off with a registered handgun and a Sony PlayStation 3, police say, the burglar made off with nearly $20,000 worth of jewelry. He then tried to steal the car.

A registered handgun? What a hypocrite. The late Congresswoman, Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, was extremely antigun and wanted prevent you from owning a gun. However, she didn't seem to have a problem owning one herself.
