Several firearms-related bills scheduled for proponent testimony in House committee

Chairman Ron Maag has announced that the House State Government committee will be hearing proponent testimony on several firearms-related bills next Wednesday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. in Room 121.

Bills for which proponents will be testifying are:

• HB 20 (Rule Modification for Concealed Carry in School Zones) - Reps. Gonzales/Koehler
• HB 48 (Eliminate many 'no-guns' victim zones) - Rep. Maag
• HB 152 (Constitutional Carry) - Reps. Hood/Brinkman [UPDATE 5/11/15: This bill has been removed from the hearing schedule.]

Buckeye Firearms Association maintains a vigilant watch on gun legislation in Ohio. As legislation is introduced in the Ohio House or Senate, we will evaluate it and post information here.

The Buckeye Firearms Association helped craft House Bill 48. Spokesman Linda Walker explains that she shouldn’t have to get government permission to carry her gun. “It's a God-given right to self-defense. As the more people who have been able to carry, it's a proven fact that crime has gone down.”

WCMH (NBC Columbus) - Should Concealed Carry Firearms Be Allowed On Campus?

The Buckeye Firearms Association (BFA) says people should be more worried about law-breakers than concealed carry permit-holders.

"We could have a criminal walking into the daycare centers or on to the college campuses that we have no clue what they are," said Linda Walker, BFA Vice President. "The law-abiding citizen is not the one we need to be worrying about."
