Univ. of Cincinnati students join rally for self-defense on campuses

Cincinnati's CBS affiliate, WKRC Local 12, is airing a report on this week's National Collegiate Student Empty Holster Protest.

From the story:

College students here in the Tri-State and across the nation rally for their safety this week.

They want to carry guns on campus. To make their point, many students plan to wear empty holsters all week.

Students with concealed carry permits want to be allowed to carry their guns on campus. Using the Virginia Tech massacre as an example, they say students who met the requirements to carry a concealed weapon could have changed the outcome that day.

UC Sophomore, Michael Filtcraft, says taking away students' weapons leaves them helpless in an attack. "Obviously criminals don't pay attention to laws, that's why they're criminals. So, taking innocent people and disarming them, leaves them no effective means of resistance to see their family at the end of the day."
