2024 Youth Shoot gives kids the chance to camp, shoot, and compete
Buckeye Firearms Association and our many volunteers are proud to say the 2024 Youth Shoot over the weekend of September 14-15 was another great success made possible by our long-standing support of youth shooting programs.
Sponsored by Buckeye Firearms Association, the Youth Shoots are special 2-day events to offer youth the chance to camp, shoot, and compete in a fun and healthy atmosphere.
Here are some photos from this year's event.
Tusco Rifle Club generously hosted this year's Youth Shoot. It's a family oriented club situated on 360 acres in Dennison, Ohio.
This year's event was well-attended, attracting 52 youth and 23 adult volunteers, many of whom camped on the grounds over the weekend.
Activities included archery, .22 rifle, and trap shooting for beginners, as well as an introduction to handguns for more experienced attendees.
This young man won the trophy for best shotgun shooter in the trap competition.
Experienced instructors lead a firearm safety class for all new shooters before they participated in range activities.
Youth Shoot leader Steve Branam gave a presentation on America's rich heritage, including our founding and the role firearms played in our history.
In addition to trophies and medals, participants had the opportunity to earn merit badges for BSA, Venturing, HG, 4H, and other youth organizations.
This young lady made history as the first Youth Shoot participant to earn a Distinguished Expert award.
The BFA Youth Shoots are an investment in our young people and in our future. Supervised shooting sports teach firearm safety, healthy competition, and personal responsibility.
If you have young people in your family who would like to participate in a future event, subscribe to our free newsletter and watch for announcements. In most years, there is a spring and fall shoot. And we hope to someday add additional events around the state.
