September 25, 2004

The Akron Beacon Journal is reporting that a child opened the door for two masked men who committed a home invasion Friday.

The Akron Police Department told the newspaper a child at a home in the 800 block of Fried Street opened a side door around 8 a.m. Police say two men armed with guns entered the residence and threatened a 28-year-old man and two children, 7 and 10.

According to news accounts, the men then searched the home for money and hit the adult resident in the abdomen in an attempt to force cooperation. Police told the Beacon Journal robbers took an undisclosed amount of money.
