More than 600 Lucas Co. CHL-holders' names published by Toledo freebie rag

A Lucas Co. freebie rag called the Toledo City Paper has joined the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Sidney Daily News and three other Ohio newspapers who have abused the media exception provision to the law which protects CHL-holders' private information:

The list of more than 600 names appears as a "web-only exclusive", and is promoted in the August 12, 2004 issue, which is available free of charge at libraries, bookstores, coffee shops, clubs, restaurants and retail outlets throughout northwest Ohio.

  The City Paper's website notes that the paper is 100% supported by its advertisers, which include the Lucas Co. Board of Elections, Moviefone, Stautzenberger College, Owens Community College.

  To date, at least 12 major chains and more than 100 other businesses have reversed discriminatory practices against Ohio Concealed Handgun License-holders. Since Ohio's business-owners have been proven to be much more receptive to complaints of discrimination, perhaps these advertisers would care to hear how Ohioans feel about this tabloid's actions.
