With the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill (OBBB), which eliminates the excise tax on silencers and short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns and “Any Other Weapons,” the Second Amendment Foundation and its partners have issued a joint statement indicating their intention to challenge the remaining registration requirements for the affected arms under the National Firearms Act as...

Independence Day 2025

“FREEDOM”. We say it often, exclaiming our rights by the Constitution and Bill of Rights, but is it really free? Daily, there are people who are ready, willing and able to chip away at our most basic freedoms as guaranteed by the First and Second Amendments to the Constitution, and it is these people who we must fight against.

Armed churchgoers prevent mass attack as Michigan lawmakers plot more gun control

Just over an hour away from the state capitol in Lansing, Michigan — even as lawmakers worked feverishly to pass various gun control measures, including expansion of “gun free” zones — a chilling reminder unfolded of the critical need to fight for the rights of law-abiding citizens to arm themselves for self-protection anywhere they have a legal right to be.

Pro-gun language stripped from reconciliation bill, put back in - sort of

Late Friday night, Republicans introduced new watered-down text to the reconciliation bill, trying to satisfy the Senate parliamentarian’s view on the Byrd rule. The new text will keep short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, any other weapons, and suppressors under the National Firearms Act of 1934 but would reduce the tax stamp fee to $0.

Anti-gun Ohio lawmakers keep trying with new (same old) bills

On Monday, June 16, we highlighted three new Ohio House bills that Buckeye Firearms Association could support, including two backed by legislators not typically known for their pro-firearms stance. Today, we're detailing nine new House bills and one new Senate bill that BFA opposes — though "new" is a stretch. These are largely the same ineffective measures rebranded with fresh bill numbers.

Anti-gun activist lies about surviving school shooting that never occurred

The bill, sponsored by Representative Josh Williams (R-Sylvania Twp.), seeks to prevent crime victims who defend...

More than 17,000 guns reported lost or stolen from firearms dealers in 2024

Data posted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives shows more than 17,200 firearms were reported lost or stolen from federally licensed firearms dealers in 2024, which at least partly explains how criminals invariably seem to manage to get their hands on a gun, while also demonstrating that restrictive gun laws don’t work.
