Strickland, Kasich agree to two televised debates
The Columbus Dispatch reported recently that the two major-party candidates for governor of Ohio have agreed to two televised debates hosted by the eight largest newspapers in the state.
From the article:
Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland and Republican challenger John Kasich will debate on Sept. 14 in Columbus and on Oct. 7 in Toledo. The one-hour debates will be televised by the local TV partners of The Columbus Dispatch and The Blade of Toledo, as well as by ONN, the statewide cable news network.
A panel of four newspaper reporters will pose questions at each debate, and each debate will be moderated by a reporter from WBNS-Channel 10 in Columbus and WTOL-Channel 11 in Toledo. The candidates will appear on the Nov. 2 ballot.
The locations of the debates in each city have yet to be determined.
While it is likely the debate will focus mainly on the drastic economic issues facing the state, there can be no doubt, based on some of his campaign literature, that Gov. Strickland will look for an opportunity to bring up his candidates' less than stellar record on Second Amendment issues.
