By Chris Chumita

There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.

What follows is our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.

From a home invasion to a bulletproof hair weave, these articles should be a part of your required reading!

What follows is several days of headlines accompanied by short, concise pro-gun analysis.

2/28/09: Canton, Ohio: Off-Duty Officer Shoots Home Invader

From the article:

Schillinger broke in through a rear door and went to the second floor where he was confronted by the officer, who had been in bed, officers said. The officer shot Schillinger in the leg. He tried to escape through a window, but the officer arrested him, police said.

Thanks to a firearm, the off-duty officer was able to defend his home.

2/28/09: Akron, Ohio: Mailman Robbed Of Mail

From the article:

An Akron mail carrier told police that a man approached him, pulled out a gun, and demanded his mail.

You know things are getting bad once mailmen can't even deliver the mail without getting robbed.

2/25/09: Westwood, Ohio: Cops Warn Residents in Westwood About Gang

From the article:

The gang is implicated in violent beatings and robberies in Westwood. One woman was attacked outside the library, another by a school. An elderly man scared the gang off by revealing his concealed weapon, which he was licensed to carry.

Let's see... Three people were attacked. Two were attacked in or around "gun free zones" and were not able to defend themselves. The third victim was able to defend himself and scare off the thugs with a gun. Is there a lesson in these incidents? You bet there is - carry a gun!

2/25/09: Elyria, Ohio: 70-Year-Old Whacks Intruders With Pan

From the article:

The 70-year-old wife of an Ohio judge said teens who tried to rob her made her so angry that she whacked one in the head with a sauce pan.

Thankfully, the elderly victim was able to fight off the home invaders with a sauce pan. Unfortunately, it may not be enough next time. That is just one reason why firearms for self-defense are so important.

2/25/09: National: Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban

From the article:

"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.

Just like we warned - Obama is a threat to our gun rights. He wasted no time in appointing a gun-grabber as attorney general. Now they are already working on a rifle ban.

2/19/09: Kansas City, Montana: Police: Hair Weave Stops Bullet

From the article:

Officers found a bullet in the woman's hair and said her tightly-woven weave stopped the bullet.

Thankfully the victim was not hurt. Incidents like this, prove that women need to be able to carry firearms for self-defense.
