Pro-Gun Punditry: Wednesday's Buckeye State Roundabout

By Chris Chumita

There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.

What follows is our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.

From a home invasion to arrogant neigbors trying to shut down a shooting range, these articles should be a part of your required reading!

What follows is several days of headlines accompanied by short, concise pro-gun analysis.

8/16/08: Akron, Ohio: Akron Police Seek Home Invasion Suspects

From the article:

An Akron man jumped out a window and his younger sister hid under a bed to escape three intruders who barged into their home on Friday demanding money.

Home invasions appear to be happening more often. Be prepared.

8/14/08: Toledo, Ohio: Clerk Shot, Killed After He Turned Away In Robbery Of West Toledo Gas Station

From the article:

Mr. Dugan, who had worked at BP only two months, handed the assailant an undetermined amount of money and then turned his back to him, according to video surveillance from the store at 3306 Dorr St., near Secor Road. Moments later, he was shot once in the back of the head by the gunman, who then fled across Dorr Street and down Searles Road, police said.

Our prayers go out to the family and friends of the victim. It should be pointed out that he did just want the gun-grabbers tell us to do and was still killed.

8/13/08: Lancaster, Ohio: Shots Fired At Lancaster Quarry

From the article:

Lancaster police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to rob another man during a business transaction in a quarry Tuesday.

Also from the article:

As Zeger approached a white male dressed in black, another male wearing a black ski mask approached from Zeger's left and told Zeger to get down while pointing a black handgun at him.

Zeger dropped to the ground and pulled his .38 caliber handgun and shot six times at the male in the ski mask. The man in the ski mask fired three shots at Zeger in the exchange, according to the report.

Zeger has an Ohio Concealed Carry Weapon license. Zeger was not injured in the incident. The police report did not specify whether the man in the ski mask was injured in the exchange.

Another life saved by the private ownership and concealed carry of a firearm.

8/13/08: West Price Hill, Ohio: Would-Be Robbers Flee Shots

From the article:

One pointed a revolver at him, walked around the counter and demanded money. Then, the gunman tried to force the married father of three small children into a headlock, shoving the gun against his head. “Get down!” the robber ordered. As Cherradi went to the ground, he said he reached for his gun, a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson.

Cherradi is alive today, because he had a gun. If the gun-grabbers had their way, he more than likely would have been killed and the thugs would have escaped with his hard-earned money.

8/13/08: Dayton, Ohio: 2 Armed Men Rob Dayton Circle K Store

Officers said the two young men, armed with guns, walked into the store with masks on and demanded money.

Clerks actually have a very dangerous job and should consider carrying a handgun for self-defense.

8/12/08: Cleveland, Ohio: Man Shot While Sitting In SUV In Drive-Through

From the article:

Investigators are looking for the gunman who shot the driver of a sport utility vehicle that ended up crashing into a home on the city's east side.

More violence rocks the city that is to busy trying to go after all guns instead of violent thugs with guns.

8/12/08: Dayton, Ohio: Dayton Store Clerk Killed During Robbery Attempt

From the article:

A 33-year-old Dayton man died after being shot early Tuesday morning in a robbery attempt. Police said the gunfire happened around 1 a.m. at the Kwik N Kold Drive-Thru on Prescott Avenue.

This incident happened at a "Gun Free Zone" that was created by current Ohio law. Once again we see that criminals do not obey the law and an unarmed victim is now dead thanks to the illusion of safety created by so-called "gun free zones".

8/12/08: Henrietta Township, Ohio: Neighbors Target Boy Scout Gun Range, Calling It A Nuisance

From the article:

Deborah Banyas and her husband, Terry Speer, thought they were buying their dream house in the rolling farmland of southwestern Lorain County 10 years ago. Then the gunfire started, spoiling their idyllic retreat.

Also from the article:

Camp Executive Director Barry Norris said the camp has been there for more than 60 years and the Scouts have worked hard to be good neighbors. The shooting ranges are needed so the Scouts can qualify for merit badges.

Deborah Banyas and Terry Speers bought their property that is near a scout camp and shooting range. It appears that they are so arrogant that they expect the scouts who have been there for 60 years to stop what they are doing just for them. It is just like the idiots who buy a house next to railroad tracks and then complain about the noise.
