Pro-Gun Punditry: Wednesday's Buckeye State Roundabout

By Chris Chumita

There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.

What follows is our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.

From a violent robbery in a gun free zone to a woman attacked while leaving work, these articles should be a part of your required reading!

What follows is several days of headlines accompanied by short, concise pro-gun analysis.

6/29/08: Columbus, Ohio: Police: 2 Masked Men Rob Max & Erma's

From the article:

Police said that they were searching for two men who robbed a Max & Erma's restaurant on the city's northwest side early Sunday.

Also from the article:

According to detectives, a worker was taking out trash when two armed men approached and forced the employee back into the restaurant and demanded money.

The pair then confronted the manager at gunpoint and demanded money from the safe.

Police said one of the robbers struck the manager in the back of the head with a gun. Then they took money from the restaurant and fled.

Ohio law requires restaurants like Max & Erma's to be a gun free zone, because they serve alcohol. As you can see, all the law did was disarm the employees. It did not prevent the thugs from committing armed robbery.

6/27/08: Ross and Highland County: Trophy Deer Poaching Ring Broken Up In Southern Ohio

From the article:

After a three month undercover investigation by the Division of Wildlife, four men charged with 28 wildlife violations in Highland and Ross County, were convicted in what appears to be one of the largest trophy deer poaching rings ever in Ohio.

Poachers like these idiots give real hunters a bad name. Thankfully, the were caught and will face justice.

The City Club and the Cleveland Lawyers' Chapter of the Federalist Society will have a forum on gun possession at noon July 7 at the City Club.

Attorney Alan Gura, who represented Dick Anthony Heller in the case, will discuss its implications and his role in the historic Second Amendment ruling.

If you can attend this event, make sure that you thank Mr. Gura for all of his hardwork. Because of him, we are truely one step closer to restoring our Second Amendment rights.

6/26/08: Cleveland, Ohio: Man Shot, Killed Near Fourth District Headquarters

From the article:

A man was shot several times and killed on Cleveland's east side Thursday morning. Police said multiple gunshots were heard west of the Fourth District Headquarters just after 2 a.m.

Don't worry, the police will protect you! The gun-grabbers want you to believe that the police will protect you, but they won't tell you about stories like this one. They don't want you to know that a man can be murdered just down the street from a police station that is manned 24 hours a day.

6/26/08: Cleveland, Ohio: Police Say Teens Beat Man To Death On Busy Street

From the article:

At a news conference Thursday, police said 42-year-old Anthony Waters was beaten to death in front of many witnesses.

Also from the article:

Police said the man was assaulted by three juveniles, ages 13 to 15, on bicycles.

In Cleveland, a man can be beaten to death in front of a crowd and no one bothers to help. Remember this is the city that wants to disarm the law-abiding gun owner and leave them defenseless against the thugs.

6/25/08: Columbus, Ohio: Floral Shop Owner Shot While Leaving Work

From the article:

Police were searching for more information after a floral shop owner was beaten and shot while leaving work on Tuesday night.

Also from the article:

Always be armed and prepared to defend yourself at ALL times! Hopefully, the victim will make a complete and quick recovery.
