SHOCK: Person obtains 10+ firearms without background check

To listen to President Obama and his gun ban extremist friends tell it, all we have to do to keep criminals from gaining access to firearms is to mandate that a background check be done before all transfers of firearms. Pass "universal" background checks, we're told, close the "gun show loophole," we're told, and we can stop mass shootings! Indeed, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) literally says that by mandating "universal" background checks we can "guarantee that criminals, domestic abusers, the dangerously mentally ill and others are denied unchecked access to guns." (emphasis added).

Apparently someone forgot to tell a thief who drove a stolen truck through the front of a firearms retailer that the law which mandates background checks in that gun store meant that he was "guaranteed" not to get access to the guns inside.

From WHIO (CBS Dayton):

At least 10 firearms were stolen during a break-in at the Vandalia Range and Armory Sunday morning, according to police.

...

Vandalia police received a call shortly after 3:20 a.m. Sunday of an alarm going off at the Vandalia Range and Armory, 100 Corporate Center Drive.

Officers found a smashed window on the south side of the building, according to Sgt. Gary Jackson.

Not many details are being released because its an ongoing investigation, but Jackson did say all firearms stolen were handguns.

According to the article, no arrests have been made and it’s unclear whether investigators are zeroing in on a suspect.

After another recent smash and grab theft of guns in nearby Springfield, Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly predicted the guns "will quickly be sold or traded on the streets in the Miami Valley."

“They will go to individuals most likely who cannot buy them legally — people with criminal histories, people who will use them for violence,” the sheriff was quoted as saying.

How can this be? President Obama, the CSGV and their ilk claim all we have to do to stop criminals from getting guns - the way that we can "guarantee" they don't - is to pass another law. Never mind that it there is a law in place prohibiting the theft of that truck, there is a law in place prohibiting the thief from driving it through the front of that store, there is a law in place prohibiting the thief from stealing those guns, and there are more laws in place prohibiting the thief from selling them.

And yet they want the American people to think that a law requiring that a background check be performed on every sale would make the people buying these guns from this thief on the street say, "I wish I could, but we need to do a background check first."

The president and his friends aren't worried about this criminal's stolen guns, and the fact that their laws wouldn't affect them make that obvious. What they are worried about is YOUR guns, which is why their proposals DO focus on you.
