Signs come down at former hypocritical Business Banners

Three more stores from the list of "business ban hypocrites" have removed their discriminatory signs. They originally earned their place on this list by attempting to ban CHL-holders from their Ohio stores, while having a long history of NOT doing the same to CHL-holders in other states.

Original Mattress Factory in Fairfield has removed signs ordering customers who were CHL-holders to shop elsewhere. Initially, the store had been informing customers that the policy would be enforced state-wide. But just days after OFCC revealed that customers in Georgia (where the company is headquartered) are not greeted with discriminatory signs.

Giant Eagle customer service reps (located in Pennsylvania), are telling callers that it is NOT Giant Eagle policy to ban CHL-holders, and confirms that they do not do so in other states. Giant Eagle in Madison has removed it's signs, and OFCC has confirmed that signs at other Giant Eagle stores were posted out of confusion over the Class D liquor laws. Updates to follow.

Home Depot corporate HQ also confirms that it is not company policy to ban CHL-holders, although they do prohibit employees from carrying while at work. Home Depot store managers in Beavercreek/Fairborn, Hamilton, Mason and Springfield have removed these discriminatory signs.

Boston Market corporate HQ (located in Colorado) is informing callers that it is NOT Boston Market policy to ban CHL-holders, and that it has ordered removal of signs in all Ohio stores.

Thanks to the quick action of attentive customers, some retailers, such as individual Office Depot & Festival Foods outlets (along with one Walmart), have put up and taken down signs before ever making it on the business ban hypocrites list.

We can't highlight them all, but MANY retailers, carryouts and other businesses are responding to customer complaints and removing signs (Deacon's Chrysler in Mayfield Village and two Shell stations in Celina are the more recent).

More and more business-banners are realizing that it is just not good business to post signs ordering some of your customers to shop elsewhere.
