Three BFA-supported bills to receive hearings in Statehouse

Legislators in the House and Senate are scheduled to give more attention to three of the many gun rights-related bills pending in the Statehouse before they adjourn for a long summer recess that will likely not resume until after the November mid-term elections.

Chairman Gerald Stebelton (R-Lancaster) has announced that the House Education Committee will be hearing testimony on House Bill 454 (Rule Modification for Concealed Carry in School Zones) on May 28, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in Statehouse Room 313. This will be the third hearing for the bill. The committee will consider testimony from proponents, opponents and interested parties. Chairman Stebelton has indicated that an amendment may be offered before a possible vote

Meanwhile, in the Senate, Chairman Bill Coley (R-Liberty Twp.) has announced that the Senate Civil Justice Committee will be hearing testimony on Senate Bill 338 (Concealed Carry Law Reform) and HB 234 (Allow Noise Suppressors While Hunting), also on May 28, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the North Hearing Room.

This will be the second hearing for HB 234, and the committee will be hearing testimony from proponents. Buckeye Firearms Association has previously provided testimony in support of the bill, which passed the Ohio House with a 76-15 vote.

This will be the third hearing for SB 338, which has been endorsed by Buckeye Firearms Association. Committee members will consider opponent and interested party testimony.
