Classic Country Outdoors Host Calvin Pyle hanging up his headphones; Final show on Sunday!

Classic Country Outdoors host Calvin Pyle is hanging up the headphones as the voice of the outdoorsman. He has been the voice of the sportsman in southwest Ohio for two decades. His laid back country style was a perfect fit for Classic Country Radio stations. Pyle grew up in Clinton County. As a youngster he explored the woods and creeks of the area falling in love with the outdoors. It was a passion that he shared with his listeners.

Joe Mullins, President of WBZI, WKFI and WEDI radio stations notes, “Calvin’s dedication to informing our listeners about outdoor recreation has been extremely valuable. His personal, passionate connection to the lakes, parks and woods of south-central Ohio has been shared with thousands of people every weekend. He knows the people, places and hot topics that make us want to get involved. He is also a good teacher, keeping us thinking about the safety and responsibility of being a hunter, fisherman, boater or gun owner. Great job, Calvin!”

Pyle's unique program welcomed callers with comments and questions in an hour of live broadcasting each weekend. In addition to broadcasting Pyle often spoke at outdoor shows, held fishing seminars and hosted trips to many fishing hotspots and is perhaps best known for his fishing expertise. He is a former Ohio Huskie Muskie Club Mr. Muskie man of the year in a tribute not only for his love of Muskie fishing but his conservation efforts to the Ohio Muskie program. He is a tireless promoter of getting outdoors and enjoying all the great natural resources Ohio has to offer.

Pyle played a leading role as a voice of the Second Amendment. He is a leading advocate of safe firearms ownership and concealed carry in Ohio. He is at the forefront of informing sportsmen about firearms issues. He never backed away from his beliefs often tackling controversial subjects head-on as part of his career. He tirelessly promoted Buckeye Firearms Association (BFA) as his choice of sources for information about concealed carry and Ohio legislation affecting gun owners. BFA volunteers were often his special guests.

Pyle is well known and highly respected by his peers in the outdoor broadcasting industry. Calvin Pyle is to be congratulated on his broadcasting career, many accomplishments and the friends he has made throughout the years. The airways will never be the same without the voice of Calvin Pyle welcoming the sportsmen and women of southwest Ohio every Sunday at noon.

Join Buckeye Firearms Association leaders Linda Walker, Sean Maloney and me as special guests on the Classic Country Outdoors Show of November 16. The show will be Pyle's final concealed carry show but it is also an opportunity for gun owners to call and say thanks.
