Movie Review: Innocents Betrayed
By Chris Chumita
Earlier this year, the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) released a shocking documentary about the abuses of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) called “The Gang”. The Buckeye Firearms Association had the pleasure of viewing it shortly after its release, and you can read our review of “The Gang” here.
However, “The Gang” is not the only groundbreaking documentary that was produced by the JPFO. Back in 2003, they released another high quality, entertaining, educational, and Oscar-worthy documentary called “Innocents Betrayed”.
“Innocents Betrayed” gives a brief history on most of the modern genocides and exposes a common link between them, gun control. The documentary is based on the excellent book, “Death By Gun Control”. The documentary and the book show you that the real cost of gun control is the loss of innocent life. You will see how gun control was often the first step that lead to genocide in the Soviet Union, Germany, China, Rwanda, and many other countries.

“Innocents Betrayed” also discusses how gun control laws have been used to oppress and sometimes slaughter innocent people in the United States. Hopefully, we will learn from history before genocide on the scale that we have seen in other countries happens here.
“Innocents Betrayed” also introduces us to what is now known as the Genocide Formula:
Hatred + Government + Disarmed Citizens = Genocide
The formula is so simple, but is tragically true. Millions of lives have been lost because of gun control. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we have learned our lesson. Our Second Amendment rights are attacked on a daily basis by anti-gun legislators and by international forces, such as IANSA and the United Nations.
However, this documentary can be used to make a difference. The JPFO intended “Innocents Betrayed” to be much more than a movie. They intended it to be a tool that can be used to educate the public about the dangers of gun control, and they succeeded.
In the booklet that comes with the DVD, the JPFO wrote:
“Innocents Betrayed” gives you knowledge that a few others in the world have – knowledge of the true consequences of disarming innocents. With this knowledge, you will be better prepared to protect yourself, your family, your community, and your freedom.
What you do with that knowledge is up to you. After viewing the documentary, share it with your family, friends, and your community. If possible, have your local library screen the movie to expose as many people to it as possible. Talk to the teachers at your local school about using the movie in history class.
In order to protect our freedoms and our Second Amendment rights, we must change as many minds as possible. Powerful documentaries such as “Innocents Betrayed” are just one of the small tools that we can use in that fight.
