ACTION ALERT: Tell Your Senator and Representative to VOTE YES on HB 425

HURRY! The legislative session is coming to a close!

Your immediate action is required!

On Wednesday, Dec. 16, the Senate Government Oversight Committee passed HB 425, which removes the requirement that a Concealed Handgun License holder “promptly notify” law enforcement if they are carrying a handgun.

No one has ever known what "promptly" means. This ambiguously worded law is unnecessary and has been applied unevenly. HB 425 ends the confusion, allowing law enforcement to simply ask for that information if they want it.

The committee also amended HB 425 to include SB 317, which corrects the 12th District Court of Appeals' horrendous decision that threatens school safety programs all over Ohio. The court ruling would require full police officer training for anyone to be armed in a school as part of a school safety program.

THIS IS A DIRECT RESULT OF MICHAEL BLOOMBERG-FUNDED LAWYERS IN OHIO TRYING TO TAKE GUNS OUT OF SCHOOLS EVEN IF IT MEANS PUTTING OUR KIDS IN HARMS WAY!

This is an absurd requirement and is intended to shut down proven and effective school security programs in nearly every county in Ohio. The amendment simply puts school security into the hands of local school boards where it belongs.

HB 425 is now eligible for a full Senate vote and possible House concurrence vote. Time is short. It's possible Thursday could be the last day for this legislative session.
