ACTION: Urge Gov. DeWine to Sign Permitless Carry Bill

On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the Ohio House voted 58-36 to pass Senate Bill 215, sponsored by Sen. Terry Johnson. If signed into law, this bill makes it legal in Ohio to carry a concealed handgun with or without a license.

About an hour later, the Senate concurred with a vote of 24-9. This means the bill moves to the governor's desk!

So now what happens? After passage through the House and Senate, the bill must be signed by the Speaker of House and the President of Senate and becomes an act. The act is then presented to the Governor. At that point, the governor has 10 days (excluding Sundays) to sign the act.

When signed, it is then filed with Secretary of State for final enrollment and becomes effective 91 days after filing.
