Bill to carry concealed weapons goes to Ohio Senate

Cincinnati's 9News (WCPO, a CBS affiliate), filed a report on the beginning of Senate consideration of HB12 today. It be be read, or viewed on a video file, by clicking here.

The opening two sentences set the tone for the report:

"A bill stating the right to carry concealed weapons has been passed in the Ohio House and will soon be voted on in the Ohio Senate. This means guns could be found in daycare centers, hospitals or even in Kroger stores if the right to carry a concealed weapon is passed here in Ohio."

GASP! Oh, the horror! Guns in a Kroger!! Click "Read More..." for the full report.

Oh, wait. There already ARE guns in Ohio's retail stores, and they're only in the hands of persons who wish to do harm to others:

Ada Taco Bell holdup

Gunman holds up Kenmore video store

Shoestore robbed in Chapel Hill area

Suspect arrested in string of Toledo gas station robberies

Masked man robs Akron movie theatre

Armed robbery at Par Mar store

Gene Beaupre, Professor of Political Science, is quoted by 9News as saying "I think it's hard to predict who's carrying a weapon and who isn't and that's really part of the problem" with HB12 (note that he sees no problem with the fact that his statement is true already in Ohio).

The professor's employer goes unnamed in the online report: it is Xavier University. Judging from the look of the website he has launched on the University's site, and from the quotes by students he has indoctrinated, he is no friend of concealed carry reform efforts in Ohio, and completely unaware of it's success elsewhere.
