Major party gubernatorial candidates to attend USSA Rally
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Columbus) – Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ted Strickland and Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell have
accepted invitations to be special guests at the U.S.
Sportsmen’s Alliance’s 10th annual Save Our Heritage Rally held in
Columbus. The event will fund the organization’s work to protect
hunting, fishing and trapping in the state.
Sportsmen will have a unique opportunity this September to meet and hear
from both Ohio gubernatorial candidates during the largest gathering of
sportsmen leaders in the state. While not typically a political event,
U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) leaders thought it important for
sportsmen to hear from candidates for the state’s highest office.

"As a proud and vigorous defender of the rights of gun owners and of
sportsmen, I am honored to be attending the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance
Save Our Heritage rally,” said Strickland. “Ohio’s sportsmen deserve an
advocate in the Statehouse with a proven track record of deeds that
match his words. I will be a governor who respects and values hunting,
fishing and trapping, and I’ll be a governor who fights for the rights
that sportsmen are owed as Ohioans and as Americans. I look forward to
voicing my strong support at this important rally in September.”
“I am excited about attending the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance rally celebrating Ohio’s great outdoor heritage,” said Blackwell. “As a sportsman, the Alliance’s work is important to me and other sportsmen throughout Ohio and across the country. It is my pleasure to be invited to attend and talk with their members about wildlife issues.”
“We are honored to have Congressman Strickland as a special guest at our
rally this year. Having both candidates at the event will give Ohio
hunters, anglers and trappers a great opportunity to get to know these
two gentleman and their views on key issues,” said USSA President Bud
Pidgeon. “They understand the impact the next governor will have on
hunting rights, gun ownership and protecting sportsmen’s license dollars.”
The event will be held Sept. 16 at the Aladdin Shrine Temple, 3850
Stelzer Rd. in Columbus. Doors open at 3:00 PM with dinner served at
5:30 PM.
Individual tickets are $50 and tables are $500.
