Ninth Circuit panel: Convicted felons have Second Amendment rights

On May 9, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit published a split decision vacating the conviction of Steven Duarte for violating 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1). Given the history of the Ninth Circuit, it is almost certain the government of California will ask for an en banc (all judges) review of this case. En banc is likely to be granted.

'Poison everything': AOC misfires on claims about lead ammo

In a demonstration that America’s outdoors and recreational shooting sports pastimes still bring people together, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 615 in a bipartisan vote, sending the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act over to the U.S. Senate for consideration. Canada PM Trudeau's gun confiscation initiative hits 4-year milestone

Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s “assault weapon” ban and confiscation (mandatory “buyback”) scheme was announced on May 1, 2020. True to form, some 1,500 days post-launch, three government ministers, two amnesty period extensions, and tens of millions of dollars later, it has become increasingly obvious how hopelessly bad the Liberal government’s misguided gun control scheme is, with a...

President Ronald Reagan gave us the answer to rejecting gun control

President Joe Biden said it again. Given another term, he’ll do gun control. Compare that to the 1968 words of Ronald Reagan: “We must reject the idea that every time a law’s broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.”

SCOTUS takes up Biden administration's attempt to redefine 'firearm'

Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear an appeal from the Biden Justice Department that asks the high court to lift a stay on an ATF rule supposedly meant to crack down on “ghost guns.” But the bigger, and oft-ignored, issue in the case is ATF’s attempt to massively expand its authority by reinterpreting the meaning of “firearm” itself.

Reminder: You're all gun dealers now, according to ATF (VIDEO)

Eric Blandford, better known on YouTube as Iraqveteran8888, recently discussed a big change in gun laws. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has a new rule that changes the definition of who is considered a gun dealer. This rule could affect many gun owners, and not in a good way.

Prevention, accountability should be White House 'mass murder' protocols

The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention is hosting the first in-person meeting of federal agencies to figure out what to do after a tragic mass murder and criminal misuse of firearms. The misguided focus will be on what resources can be brought to bear after a shocking crime has been committed that once again rocks the nation’s conscience.

ATF skirts legal formalities, springs another gun control rule on Americans

On April 19, ATF provided the unpleasant surprise of yet another rulemaking to implement the noxious Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. The move came just after last week’s voluminous (and illegal) “engaged in the business” rule. This one seeks to supplement existing federal gun control regulations with definitions and procedures ATF claims are necessitated by the BSCA.

'Woke' wildlife refuges? Congress blasts climate priority rule that sidelines hunting

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s proposed Biological Integrity, Diversity and Environmental Health rule update would implement a rule to “combat” climate change at the expense of wildlife conservation through hunting and angling. The proposal would put National Wildlife Refuge System decisions based solidly in Washington and not in the hands of local biologists who are best positioned to make...

ATF tactics in shooting homeowner called 'reckless and incompetent'

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives went to Bryan Malinowski’s West Little Rock home last month spoiling for a gunfight, and they got one. Now a good man is dead — the latest victim of ATF’s overly aggressive tactics and complete disregard for the sanctity of human life.

Biden ATF criminalizes tens of thousands of private firearms sellers

We have long been warning of the rule the Biden ATF has been preparing to redefine who is considered a firearms “dealer” under U.S. law. The administration’s explicit objective was to move as close to so-called “universal background checks” for firearm sales as possible. Well, look at what just happened.

New Class: America's Rifle - How to Select and Outfit Your AR-15

The AR-15 is the most popular rifle in America. That's because it's designed specifically to be modular and readily adaptable to any number of uses, from hunting to competition to self-defense. However, it can also be challenging to understand and sort through all the options given the huge number of manufacturers, calibers, barrel lengths, accessories, price points, and other considerations. BFA...

Despite slick marketing, LA-based nonprofit 97Percent is 100% anti-gun

The California-based nonprofit 97Percent took its name from a debunked Quinnipiac poll that claimed 97% of Americans supported mandatory background checks. BFA celebrates 20 years of legal concealed carry in Ohio

Over the course of a decade filled with political drama and dire predictions, Ohio legislators introduced seven separate bills in an attempt to bring concealed carry to Ohio. Finally, on Jan. 8, 2004, House Bill 12 made it to the desk of Gov. Bob Taft, who signed the bill, and made Ohio the 46th state to legalize concealed carry. The new law went into effect 20 years ago today, on April 8, 2004...

SCOTUS looks at government 'blacklists'

Much of the attention recently in the U.S. Supreme Court was on the oral arguments in National Rifle Association of America v. Vullo, No. 22-842, a First Amendment case on whether government officials may use their regulatory authority to effect a “blacklisting campaign” to silence and punish entities like the NRA for their pro-gun advocacy.
