The VD which currently plagues the military and puts our soldiers at grave risk is the policy of Victim Disarmament which...

The Bloomberg Media Follies

By Tim Inwood Recently in the Cincinnatus Standard I wrote about "teachable moments with the media." Sadly the lesson must continue as we talk about how the media looks at issues with bias and distortion. One must conclude they are quite lazy, as they don't do their homework and seem quite willing to accept anything spoon-fed to them that fits their liberal mental template without critical...

Whether you're a hunter, target shooter, own a firearm for self protection or don't own a firearm at all, the National Shooting Sports Foundation asks you to be informed about AR-15-style rifles. These rifles are often mislabeled "assault rifles" or "assault weapons." They are neither. Polls show upswing toward GOP among Ohio voters

According to two polls released this week by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, "the Democratic wave that swept through Ohio in 2006 and 2008 may be cresting." Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland's lead over former Congressman and Fox News show host John Kasich in the 2010 race for reelection has evaporated into a 40 - 40 percent tie, with Ohio voters seeing the possible Republican challenger as...

World Net Daily op-ed by Buckeye Firearms' Gerard Valentino addresses fallacy of "no-guns" army bases

Buckeye Firearms Foundation Treasurer Gerard Valentino was again published nationally, this time at WorldNetDaily.com. As a veteran who served at Fort Hood, Valentino has an interesting perspective on how the massacre there fit the same pattern as every other spree killing in a gun-free zone. Valentino makes the point that soldiers, when disarmed, are no different than students or co-workers left...

Op-Ed: Time to Put An End to Army Bases as Gun-Free Zones

By John Lott Shouldn't an army base be the last place where a terrorist should be able to shoot at people uninterrupted for 10 minutes? After all, an army base is filled with soldiers who carry guns, right? Unfortunately, that is not the case. Beginning in March 1993, under the Clinton administration, the army forbids military personnel from carrying their own personal firearms and mandates that...

Mass murder: It can happen anywhere

By Jeff Hagy Here's the thing, if it can happen at a military base , it can happen anywhere. Parents, you need to get involved and make sure your kid's schools are ACTIVELY working with the local police department on plans to not only deal with potential shooter incidents, but to identify and counteract potential shooters BEFORE it happens. You should DEMAND it. How do you do this?

Hunting Season Is the Perfect Time to Mentor a Newcomer; And You Could Win $1,000 in the STEP OUTSIDE Sweepstakes

Fall is a time of year parents and their children enjoy doing things together—attending soccer matches, carving scary jack-o'-lanterns, raking leaves (OK, maybe that one's not so much fun) and gathering around the table for Thanksgiving dinner. It's also a great time of year to introduce a young person to hunting. Hunting seasons are open across the country. From deer to upland birds, waterfowl,...

Will Health Care Reform Regulate Guns?

By Ken Hanson, Esq. Buckeye Firearms Association is a single issue, non-partisan PAC concerned with gun rights. As such, the debate on health care reform occurring across the U.S. is not something that would be within our normal sphere of coverage. However, my good friend Chad Baus posted a story a few days ago highlighting how the Centers for Disease Control has begun researching gun violence...

Are your gun rights worth $8.97?

Dear Gun Rights Supporter, I was speechless. Recently, while reviewing donations, I found myself marveling at the generosity of our many Ohio supporters. From every part of the state, people of all ages were showing their support for our work on the Second Amendment case now before the U.S. Supreme Court. Checks for $100, checks for $500, and one massive check for $10,000 from the USCCA. I was...

Editorial: The feds take a shot at guns

Obama administration caught "loading their guns" for a new round of anti-gun legislation For a decade, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been forbidden by Congress from doing research on gun-control issues. Such piddling hurdles as federal law don't matter to the Obama administration. With a wave of a hand, the CDC has simply redefined gun-control research so the ban no longer...

Sometimes Criminals Walk Among Us: Self-Enforcement is Key at Gun Shows

By Gerard Valentino The national establishment media is getting a lot of mileage from another of New York Mayor Bloomberg's dirty tricks. In this case, the Mayor sent private investigators to gun shows in several states to prove that illegal gun trafficking is taking place, and that criminals can easily buy firearms in unregulated private transactions. Video collected at several guns shows showed...

Prosecution as Punishment: The Troubling Case of Albert Kwan

By Jeff Knox People who "have nothing to hide" are often quite happy to answer any questions and consent to any intrusion a police officer might ask of them. They may even invite officers to "look around" if they want to. If you ask a good defense attorney how much you should cooperate with police, particularly when they are conducting an investigation in which you could possibly be a suspect, he...

REMINDER: VOTE TODAY!

Polls will be open across the state of Ohio and around the nation today, and once again, pro-gun voters will have a disproportionate impact on the election outcome here in the Buckeye state. Although there are 11 million voters in Ohio, about 4 million are ineligible to vote, either by age or lack of registering. And out of the 7 million registered voters, precedent suggests that only a little...
