UPDATE! Reporters from a weekly current affairs TV show on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation network, who had confirmed they would be in attendance to document the picnic, have since sent their regrets. Understandably, President Bush's scheduled visit to the Cleveland-area that same has been given priority.

Following is a statement from Ken Hanson, Litigation Chair of OFCC's Office of General Counsel, who is one of the co-organizers of the picnic:

"We would like to thank everyone for their care and concern about firearms at
the picnic. Please accept the following as the definitive, and final, answer to
all questions on the park and carrying.

The decision whether to carry a firearm or not is a personal one, just like any
other time, and OFCC neither encourages or discourages one choice or the other.
Almost all parks in Ohio, including Liberty Park, have a park rule against
unlicensed carrying of a firearm, and these rules are legally enforceable by
arrest and criminal prosecution. Licensed carrying of a firearm must be done
according to state law. OFCC is aware of the applicable rules and laws in this
park, and all raffle drawings will be in accordance with these same rules and
laws, as well as all Federal and State laws on the transfer of firearms."

This is private event for our members and supporters. We reserve the right to
refuse admittance to, or ask to leave, any person who is creating a disturbance
or behaving in a manner likely to create a disturbance or reflect negatively on
OFCC in the sole judgement of the Board of Directors of OFCC.
