There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.

4/3/07: Columbus, Ohio: Hostage Standoff Ends Peacefully

From the article:

After a brazen escape from prison guards at a Youngstown hospital, a carjacking, two armed bank robberies, a high-speed pursuit and a three-hour standoff, Fitzmorris, 34, surrendered about 4 p.m. without harming the woman he held hostage or anyone else, Columbus police said.

This is one of those incidents that PROVES the need to carry a firearms. This worthless thug was able to escape from armed guards, take hostages, and performing a carjacking at a hospital that bans citizens from carrying handguns. The hospital and its parking lots are posted. Banning firearms did not prevent this violent man from doing anything he did. In fact, it made it easier for him.

This incident also proves the need to keep firearms in the home for protection. If the homeowner was armed, they might have been able to prevent the home invasion and might not have been taken hostage. Re,member, home invasion can and do happen anywhere.

Also from the article:

"He's no angel," Brooks-Simmons said of her brother. "I don't condone what he did. But he's a good guy, he's never hurt anyone."

"Good guys" don't commit bank robberies and car jackings. They also don't assault prison guards with homade knives and they don't take hostages.

4/2/07: National: Cops on Guns

From the article:

Police Magazine surveyed more than one thousand officers on various Second Amendment issues, and the results are a slam-dunk for gun owners. Eighty-eight percent said more gun control won't make people any safer. More than 60 percent of officers said they own more than four firearms for their personal use.

Most rank and file police officers are NOT ant-gun, but most of the administrators are. Unfortunately, the media only pays attention to the anti-gun police chiefs and not the police officers who are actually working out on the street.

4/1/07: St. Louis, Missouri: NRA Aims To Be City's Biggest Convention

From the article:

Even more so, when you consider that St. Louis was sort of a last-minute fill-in after the original host city, Columbus, Ohio, ticked off the organization's leadership by passing an assault weapons ban. The NRA decided to take its guns and go home, or rather, to St. Louis.

The NRA pulled its convention out of Columbus after the city passed an "assault rifle ban." If you never attended an NRA COnvention, make sure that you go to this one. You will definately have a great weekend and will be looking forward to the next one almost as soon as you walk into the convention.

4/1/07: Los Angeles, California: Nickelodeon Shooting

From the article:

Three young people were wounded when suspected gang members opened fire at a party after the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

Los Angeles police say at least one person began firing with an automatic weapon after a group of five people was denied entry to the party.

This couldn't have really happened, because there are strict gun control laws in California. Strict gun control laws cannot prevent gangbangers from shooting up a Nickelodeon party, and will actually make it harder to protect our children.

3/30/07: National: The New Ghetto Jews

From the artilce:

Instead of opposing our tyrants -- the UN, the BATFE, and all the other gun-prohibitionists -- these agencies are working WITH them, assisting in their own downfall and selling us out, all while defensively claiming, "It would have been worse if we hadn't!"

This is the latest article by the Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms Ownership!

3/29/07: State Wide: Junk Mail Loophole Has Drivers Fuming

From the article:

The practice is an apparent loophole in Ohio's 2000 Driver Privacy Protection Act, which allows drivers to shield personal data, like names and addresses, from being disclosed by the BMV to commercial mailers for surveys, marketing or solicitations. Ohio's law mirrors laws in other states prompted by federal privacy legislation in 1994.

THIS public records loophole has Ohio legislators fuming.

3/27/07: Cleveland, Ohio: Police: Man, 78, Dies After Teens Beat Him Outside Home

From the article:

Cleveland police are looking for two teens they said severely beat a 78-year-old man in his front yard.

The victim has since died and this case is now a homicide. If only the victim was armed, he mau have been able to protect himself from these predators.
