Republicans choose Faber to replace Jordan

On December 4, The Hannah Report noted that the Ohio Senate Republican Caucus screening committee recommended Rep.
Keith Faber (a three-time endorsee of this political action committee)) to fill the 12th Senate District seat being vacated by Sen.
Jim Jordan, who was elected in November to U.S. Congress.

From the story:

Faber was one of six candidates who interviewed for the spot,
including Rep. Derrick Seaver (R-Minister), Kreg T. Allison, vice president of marketing for
Allison's Custom Jewelry Inc. in Sidney, former Rep. Gene Krebs, Sidney businessman Robert Luckey III, and Toni Slusser, of Celina.

Faber is expected to officially take over the seat when Jordan is
sworn in to Congress in January.

"Keith's legal background, his reputation for hard work and his strong
record of service to his constituents as a three-term member of the Ohio House, made him the
best choice amid an impressive field of candidates," Senate President Bill Harris (R-Ashland) said in a statement.

Buckeye Firearms Association looks forward to working with Rep. Faber when he assumes his new role in the Senate, and we offer him hearty congratulations.

The December 6 Hannah Report notes that House Speaker Jon Husted began the process Wednesday to select a successor to Rep. Faber.

From the story:

"While we will miss Rep. Faber and the great work he has accomplished while he has served in the
Ohio House, I am sure the individual who follows in his footsteps will continue to represent the people of
the 77th House District well," said Husted. "I look forward to meeting with prospective candidates for
the position in the weeks to come."

The Ohio Constitution requires that a candidate for the position of state representative must have
resided in the district for at least one year and be a registered elector -- meaning age 18 and properly
    registered to vote.

Those wishing to be considered for the 77th House District seat, which includes Mercer County and
parts of Darke County, should submit a resume to the office of Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted, attn:
Halle Pelger by mail to 77 S. High St., 14th Fl., Columbus 43215; by fax to 614/719-3591; or by email to
[email protected] by noon on Fri., Jan. 5, 2007.

Shortly thereafter, a screening committee comprised of members of the House will be formed to
consider the applicants with interviews for the post held the following week. The appointment is expected
to be made sometime during the month of January.
