OFCC joins OCAGV in ''Changing the Culture of Fear'' push

In the wake of yet another mass shooting in a place where guns were banned (a UAW official told the Toledo Blade today even the security guards are disarmed at the Toledo Jeep plant!), and on the heels of a growing number of victimizations that prove gun control laws are impotent at stopping criminals, gun ban extremist Toby Hoover felt the need to make a statement.

Hoover, who fronts what often appears to be a one-woman show at the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, sent an ambulance-chasing blast email just 45 minutes after the Jeep plant rampage, citing a list of recent Ohio shootings.

Hoover ends her email by stating that "we must change the culture of fear". Ohioans For Concealed Carry couldn't agree more.

Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence Alerts and Education Lives lost this week in Ohio

Some of the lives lost from gunshots this week include:

    - A fourteen year old boy in Columbus shot by a 'friend'. He is surviving but is reported to be paralyzed.
Gun control laws made possession of a handgun by this underage 'friend' illegal, but did nothing to stop the crime.

    - A convicted felon used an assault weapon to shoot his girlfriend, her son, a hostage and more than 25 rounds into the neighborhood.
Gun control laws made possession of a firearm by this felon illegal, but did nothing to stop the crime.

    - An employee shot three workers at the Toledo Jeep Plant, killing one, before taking his own life.
Gun control laws and company policy made concealing this firearm and sneaking past unarmed guards illegal, but did nothing to stop the crime.

(for more information on workplace violence see www.handgunfreeamerica.org)

There is never a violent solution. We must change the culture of fear.

The email ended, ironically, with an advertisement for "Weapon Free Zone" signs, which are available on Hoover's website (and might as well say what this parody sign does).

After reading Hoover's email, OFCC President Jeff Garvas responded, saying "I agree. Let's change the culture of fear, and let employees carry firearms to
defend themselves in these situations."

OFCC Board of Directors member Bryan Torok agreed, noting that "they have eliminated handgun ownership in England, yet the homicide rate continues to trend up, and equals or exceeds that of the US. If they want change, then they have to change thousands of years of human nature, and nature itself. Changing the implement used does not stop the act."

Ohioans For Concealed Carry urges legislators, businesses owners, and the OCAGV to change the culture of fear - we must stop passing laws and enforcing company policies that are based on a fear of law-abiding citizens who choose to bear arms for self-defense!
