Iraq War vet with Ohio concealed handgun license defends lives during armed robbery

Cincinnati's NBC affiliate, WLWT News 5, is reporting that a military member and concealed handgun license-holder who just returned from a tour of duty overseas was involved in a gun battle that led to the shooting of an alleged robber late last week.

From the article:

Police said Marc Conyers stopped on Boal Street just before midnight, apparently to ask for directions from another man outside the car, when an armed man tried to rob Conyers and his passenger.

Conyers, who police believe is an Iraq war veteran, was also armed and exchanged gunfire with the robber. Conyers had a permit to carry a gun.

The gunman was shot twice in the stomach and was in critical condition on Friday morning.

Conyers was shot once in the forearm, and was treated and released from a local hospital. His passenger was grazed by a bullet.

Two guns were also recovered from the scene.

The story goes on to say that the head of the Prospect Hill Neighborhood Association called the incident "isolated," but a neighbor told WLWT that a woman was robbed at gunpoint about 10 minutes before the shootout at the other end of Boal Street.

Witnesses said three assailants fled toward the Pendleton area.
