by Chad D. Baus
On Tuesday, September 24, 2013 Buckeye Firearms Association Legislative Chair Ken Hanson participated in a Columbus WSYX ABC 6 "Your Voice, Your Future" town hall meeting about House Bill 203, and so-called "Stand Your Ground" laws.
Everyone in attendance was able to voice their opinions via special instant polls.
From WSYX:
More than a hundred people gathered at OSU's Ohio Union Tuesday to discuss the bill and weigh in on whether lawmakers should pass it into law.
Through the use of instant polls, we were able to determine the makeup of the audience, and their opinions on various issues related to the proposal.
According to our polls, audience members were mostly older men; 77 percent of them owned guns.
When we asked them if Ohio should enact a 'stand your ground' law, 85 percent of the men in attendance said "yes." Ninety percent of the gun owners supported the bill.
Female audience members spoke out strongly on the question of whether they worry about someone they know being shot, with 72 percent of the women attendees answering in the affirmative.
Finally, moderator Bob Kendrick addressed the issue of race, asking audience members if the proposed law is racially motivated. 90 percent of the gun owners in the audience said "no."
