1/29/07: Adams County, Ohio: Another Big Buck Scored From Adams County

From the article:

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife announced that another record-setting deer was harvested in southwestern Ohio. On Saturday, Dec. 21, 2006, Rick Busse's wildlife studio officially scored the 12-point typical (symmetrical antlered) deer taken by Justin Metzner on October 21, 2006 with a compound bow in Adams County.

The Metzner Buck was scored by Rick Busse, an official scorer for Pope and Young, and Boone and Crockett; and Randy Clark, an official scorer for Ohio Big Bucks. The deer scored at 196 6/8 which would position it to be the second largest deer harvest with a compound bow in Ohio; the fifth largest typical deer taken in the world in the Pope and Young record book; and Buckmaster's seventh all time typical white-tailed deer harvested with a compound bow.

The Buckeye Firearms Association would like to congratulate on scoring such an amazing buck.

1/29/07: Corvallis, Oregon: Introducing America’s Gun Owners

From the article:

The right of Americans to bear arms, as stipulated in the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution, will soon get a microscopic examination as different presidential candidates establish their positions on gun ownership.

I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce the readers of this column, and by extension their candidates, to American gun owners. I won’t pretend gun owners are a homogeneous group, but it’s safe to say that a significant portion of them resemble the folks I’ve described below in their beliefs and actions.

Over all, this is another good article that you should take a few minutes to read. However, we have to oppose the following statement in the article:

We are willing to consider creative new ways to identify weapons that have been used for criminal purposes and wish the National Rifle Association were more cooperative in this effort.

We do not blame the type of firearm used for causing violent crime. We ONLY blame the criminal. It would create an easy loophole for gun-grabbers to confiscate all of our firearms if we allowed some firearms to be identified as only "used for a criminal purposes."

1/26/07: National: Senate Version Of National Right-To-Carry Bill Introduced

From the article:

U.S. Senator John Thune (R-S.D.) recently introduced S. 388--the Senate version of H.R. 226, a national Right-to-Carry reciprocity bill that would provide national reciprocity for state carry licensees. This legislation would allow any person with a valid carry permit or license issued by a state to carry a concealed firearm in any other state if they meet certain criteria.

We need to work with the NRA to get this bill passed as soon as possible. It is important to note that this would NOT create a federal licensing system. While a nationwide "Vermont" style CCW law would be ideal, this may be a first small step in achieving that.

1/25/07: National: Surprise, More Lies Aimed At A Lover Of America, Liberty

From the article:

I will recruit many more NRA members this year. I will kill and distribute more tonnage of pure venison for the magnificent Hunters For The Hungry program.

I will increase the hunting trips we provide for needy children and wounded military heroes and their families. I will turn up the heat to expose the vacuity and antiAmerican agenda of the left.

I will increase my war on drugs, against drinking and driving, and against tolerance for crime and stupidity. I will intensify my fight for a united America by demanding all Americans speak English.

I need no one’s authorization for my experiment in “self-government.” God and I have a deal. We’re on it. We’re rockin’.

This is an excellet guest column by a true patriot, and protector of our liberties, Ted Nugent. In this column, he uses his entertaining writing style to address the accusations that he is racist and other issues.

1/23/07: Wisconsin: Reject Campaign For Concealed Guns

From the article:

Police in Ohio’s major cities are wondering what to do about heavily armed criminals. The Ohio Legislature supplemented its concealed carry law with a second measure wiping out local assault weapons bans. The National Rifle Association, which campaigned for the additional measure, said that some assault weapons bans “unduly burdened” gun owners.

This article from a newspaper in Wisconsin mentions our passage of HB 347 as another reason to reject concealed carry in Wisconsin. As always, the article is filled with lies or illogical thinking.
