Pro-Gun Punditry: Wednesday's Buckeye State Roundabout

There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention, which brings us to our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.

From a rape near a "no-guns" victim zone to an invitation to being guns to church, these articles should be a part of your required reading!

What follows is several days of headlines accompanied by short, concise pro-gun analysis.

6/21/09: Cleveland, Ohio: 16-Year-Old Accused Of Raping Woman In University Circle

From the article:

The 22-year-old woman told police she was attacked in the 11500 block of East Boulevard, near the Cleveland Museum of Art, at about 11 a.m. Sunday.

Police said she was forced into the bushes at knifepoint, where she was raped. The woman was transported to a local hospital.

Incidents like this are exactly why you should encourage the woman in your life to carry a gun and to learn how to use it.

6/21/09: Carlisle Township, Ohio: Man Dies When Deer Knocks Him Off Motorcycle

From the article:

A deer darting through traffic on Lagrange Road caused havoc Saturday afternoon in Lorain County, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report.

The over population of deer is one of the main reasons that accidents like this one happens. Hunting is the best way to control the deer population.

6/20/09: Cape Cod, Massachusetts: Gun Control On Cape's Plate

From the article:

Authorities don’t expect that the program will appeal to criminals, but it could be effective with residents who find or are left with guns they don’t know what to do with.

At least they are finally admitting that gun buy backs do not affect crime! If they really wanted to help people who didn't know how to get rid of their unwanted guns, they should suggest that the person sale it to a licensed dealer. In many cases, the person wiould get more than $50 of groceries if they sold it to a dealer instead of trading it in.

6/19/09: Akron, Ohio: Masked Burglars Break Into Home Where Teen Girl Home Alone

Police are looking for two masked burglars who broke into an Akron home where a 17-year-old girl was home alone.

Home invasions seem to be happening more often. Thankfully, the victim was not hurt in this incident.

6/17/09: Cincinnati, Ohio: Council OKs Bowhunting In City Parks

From the article:

Cincinnati City Council voted Wednesday to allow the hunting as a way to cull the deer population less expensively than the current way of having police sharpshooters kill the deer. Two councilmembers opposed the idea: Laketa Cole and Roxanne Qualls.

Hunting is the best way to control the deer population.

6/13/09: Troy, New York: NY Pizzeria Worker Shot In 2nd Robbery Attempt

A month after he fought off a knife-wielding man attempting robbery, a Troy pizza parlor worker has been shot in another apparent robbery attempt at the same restaurant.

Thanks to New York's strict gun control laws, the victim was left unarmed and unable to adequately defend himself.

6/4/09: Louisville, Kentucky: Ky. Pastor Asks Members To Bring Guns To Church

From the article:

A Kentucky pastor is inviting his flock to bring guns to church to celebrate the Fourth of July and the Second Amendment.

New Bethel Church is welcoming "responsible handgun owners" to wear their firearms inside the church June 27, a Saturday. An ad says there will be a handgun raffle, patriotic music and information on gun safety.

What a great idea. It is nice to see that there is a pastor who won't bow down to political correctness and will preach about how self-defense is advocated in the Bible.
