Pro-Gun Punditry: Wednesday's Buckeye State Roundabout

By Chris Chumita

There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.

What follows is our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.

From a bank robbery in a gun free zone to a carjacking, these articles should be a part of your required reading!

What follows is several days of headlines accompanied by short, concise pro-gun analysis.

4/7/08: Dayton, Ohio: Dayton Fifth Third Bank Robbed

From the article:

Police are searching for a man they say got away with cash from an afternoon bank robbery. This took place at the Fifth Third Bank on Patterson.

Another robbery in a criminal protection zone. In case you don't know, Fifth Third Bank bans law-abiding citizens from carrying their firearms in their banks.

4/6/08: Canton, Ohio: Man Killed, Brother Shot In Canton Home

From the article:

Canton police are looking for a shooter that killed one man and wounded his brother on Saturday.

This incident may have turned out differently, if the victims were armed.

4/6/08: National: Family, Friends Remember Charlton Heston

From the article:

Charlton Heston, the Oscar winner who portrayed Moses and other heroic figures on film in the '50s and '60s and later championed conservative values as head of the National Rifle Association, has died. He was 84.

Our prayers our with Charlton Heston's family and friends. He was a great leader and fought hard to restore our Second Amendment rights.

4/3/08: State Wide: Shooting Intruders: Self Defense Or Excuse For Murder?

From the article:

You're in your home -- your castle -- and you feel forced to fire. Self defense or excuse for murder?

That is an easy question, it is self-defense. Ohio is long over due to start empowering victims instead of criminals. Passing a Castle Doctrine/Stand Your Ground law would be a great first step.

4/3/08: Columbus, Ohio: Tenant Kills Would-Be Robber, Police Say

From the article:

A gunman who police say kicked in the door to an East Side apartment was shot to death by one of the tenants early today.

Another life saved by a firearm.

3/31/08: Cleveland, Ohio: Woman Hit With Gun During Attempted Carjacking

From the article:

A 21-year-old woman told police that a man robbed her at gunpoint Friday night. She said the man got upset with her and hit her in the head with the gun when she tried to give him the entire purse. He told her, "just the wallet."

More violence rocks a city who is wasting way too much time attacking legal gun owners instead of looking for real solutions to their crime epidemic.
