Two weeks till Election Day!

It is two weeks till Election Day. November 6, 2018 is a critical day that will make possible or impossible many things for the next two years, and probably establish a trend for a longer period of time.

In Ohio, there are eight statewide offices that Buckeye Firearms Association PAC has endorsed in. Some are obvious why they are important, and others are more subtle, but every election matters toward shaping what we can establish in the remainder of this year, and next session. Our statewide endorsed candidates are:

  • Governor/Lt. Governor – Mike DeWine & John Husted
  • Attorney General – Dave Yost
  • Auditor of State – Keith Faber
  • Secretary of State – Frank LaRose
  • Treasurer of State – Robert Sprague
  • U.S. Senator – Jim Renacci
  • Justice of the Supreme Court – Craig Baldwin
  • Justice of the Supreme Court – Mary DeGenaro

If elected, Mike DeWine will be the best Governor on firearms and self-defense issues in over 20 years, and maybe ever. We will move from the worst half to the best half of states in the country in one session.

Ohio’s U.S. Senator is Sherrod Brown, who is staunching anti-gun, anti-self-defense, anti-freedom. You want to know where Brown stands on any issue; look at (crazy) Bernie Sanders. Brown’s views are similar, or even to the left of Bernie. He does not represent Ohio and should not be our Senator. We have endorsed Jim Renacci, who has been a strong ally in Congress, and will be one in the critical U.S. Senate, if we elect him. Renacci has been my Congressman since 2011. He is viewed as a long shot to win, but I know gun owners can turn any election. We must come out strong for Jim Renacci.

Ohio has two open Congressional seats this year. Both races have outside, far-left, radical anti-gun money like Bloomberg and George Soros pouring in to influence. They are:

  • 12th Congressional District – Troy Balderson
  • 16th Congressional District – Anthony Gonzalez

As Ohio goes, so goes the nation. The entire country will be watching these key races.

Ohioans will also vote on all 99 Ohio House seats and all odd-numbered Ohio Senate seats. President Trump has proven that the old political models are broken, and “safe” districts are not safe anymore; and that cuts both ways. Republican are looking strong in traditional Democratic stronghold places like Mahoning, Lorain and Ashtabula counties. Democrats are looking strong in traditional Republican stronghold places like the suburbs of large cities. How will this shape election day (and the next two or more years)? It depends on who shows up to vote, and what their priorities are.

President Obama energized gun owners. Hillary Clinton rightly scared gun owners. We responded and beat back the strongest attacks on our rights our nation has ever endured. But over the past two years many gun owners have become lackadaisical. If we don’t get involved and vote this year, we will be in for a rude awakening.

We have also endorsed in several local or judicial races and one State School Board race. We are still looking at a few more races, so check back before you vote.

  • We need every gun owner to do at least three of these things:
  • Vote for our endorsed candidates
  • Make sure like-minded friends, family, neighbors and co-workers vote for endorsed candidates
  • Share our list of endorsed candidates with other gun groups
  • Bonus item #4 – Donate $50/100 per person/couple to our endorsed candidates
  • Bonus item #5 - Work for one of our endorsed candidates

The NRA magazine is pre-printed and contains a couple errors. Some BFA candidates/grades have been added or changed. For the most up to date pro-gun information and a custom voter guide, go to:
