URGENT: Tell the ATF You Do NOT Want the Definition of a Firearm to Change

We recently reported on a proposal by the ATF to change the definition of frame or receiver and alter federal marking requirements for firearms.

The rule, if implemented, would completely upend the firearm industry by changing what parts must legally be considered a “firearm” under federal law.

The ATF has now posted this rule for comments from the public. CLICK HERE to read the document. This link also provides instructions for how to submit comments, which we strongly encourage you to do. There is a 90-day public comment period.

The proposed rule is an end run around Congress. It would give the ATF unprecedented control over the firearm industry. It would even require manufacturers to ask permission for new gun designs.

And this comes at a time when President Biden has nominated anti-gun lobbyist and gun ban proponent David Chipman to head the agency.

NOTE: Anti-gun activists are submitting comments too. It's up to us to tell the ATF we do NOT want this rule change.
